"Manav Sadhna, an NGO based in the Gandhi Ashram, Ahmedabad, is dedicated to the upliftment of the underpriveledge community accross the Ahmedabad city

In 1990, a team of young volunteers, inspired by Gandhian values, began gathering under the branches of a tree in the Gandhi Ashram every Saturday to play with street children. They provided the children with a nutritional meal and taught them about basic hygiene by cutting their nails and bathing them. This activity quickly came together into a full time endeavor working to brighten the future of

underprivileged children. Under the guidance of Gujarat Harijan Sevak Sangh, Safai Vidyalaya and Environmental Sanitation Institute (ESI), Manav Sadhna was established both in India and in the United States. Today, from a quiet corner in the Gandhi Ashram, Manav Sadhna serves more than 8000 children and women through more than 35 projects. We also indirectly touch the lives of many more individuals through our healthcare and educational support projects. The projects are created based on the needs and participation of the community.

1,300 reusable sanitary pads (UNIPADS) have been distributed among women and girls aged 12–45 years across various slum communities of Ahmedabad. Along with the distribution, we conducted awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene and explained the benefits of reusable sanitary pads—including their low cost, long-term usability, and eco-friendly nature, helping reduce menstrual waste while promoting healthier and more sustainable practices.

Our volunteers Hannah Kaitlyn, Luna and Aarons farewell was truly heart-touching. As our Ms. Karyakartas shared their bhav and reflections, it beautifully captured the love, bonds, and memories created during their time together.

As they return home, they take with them more than just experiences—they carry friendships, heartfelt connections, and memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Through weekly Arts classes, our children connect with their spirit, express emotion and imagination in healthy ways, grow in creativity and improve their performance across other disciplines. In Bal Sanskar children participate in arts and crafts as well as dance classes; in Vidhyadham students select from arts and crafts, music or dance and commit to it for the year. Volunteers and artists also facilitate workshops throughout the year.

Health Check Up for Hope Project Girl

Today, the Hope girls from the Manav Setu Centre and Manav Gulzar Centre visited S.M.S. Hospital for a comprehensive full-body health check-up.

Specialist doctors conducted general examinations, followed by ECG, blood tests, ENT, eye examinations, and gynecological consultations where needed. Additional investigations, including ultrasonography, X-rays, and dental check-ups, were carried out based on individual requirements.

After receiving the test reports, any girl identified with a health concern will receive appropriate treatment, guidance, and regular follow-up care.

A total of 30 girls (25 from Manav Setu Centre and 5 from Manav Gulzar Centre) successfully completed the health check-up.

Rain Relief Work
Due to continuous rainfall in Ahmedabad over the last two days, many houses in the community faced issues with water leaking inside.
In this situation, our community workers and brothers served dedicatedly despite the heavy rain. They visited community homes, climbed onto roofs to clean them, properly arranged the roof tiles, and installed tarpaulins where necessary to prevent rainwater from leaking inside.

Additionally, families living in slum areas who survive on daily wages face immense hardships during heavy rains. Keeping this situation in mind, workers distributed hot khichdi to such families across every Manav Sadhana center. A huge thank you to all the workers.

Sewing Class at Manav Gulzar Community Center

The sewing class at the Manav Gulzar Center is conducted regularly.

During the months of June and July, a total of 16 new women enrolled in the sewing class, including 5 women from the Ganeshnagar area.

As of July, 29 women are attending the sewing class regularly. After completing the training, many of the women earn an income by doing tailoring and stitching work from their homes, helping them become financially self-reliant.

ental Health Camp at Manav Seva Centre
Today, a team from the Dental Department of Civil Hospital organized a dental health camp for children at the Manav Seva Centre.
A total of 93 children underwent dental check-ups during the camp. Following the examinations, 70 children were referred to the hospital for further treatment and will be taken there to receive the necessary dental care.
Adding to the joy of the day, our volunteer Hennah distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste to the Bal Sanskar children, encouraging them to adopt healthy oral hygiene habits.
Together, we continue to build healthier smiles and brighter futures.

Scout Investiture Ceremony at Manav Setu

This year, the Manav Sadhna Scout and Guide Programme started again at three centres—Manav Gulzar, Manav Setu, and Manav Jatan—to nurture discipline, leadership, teamwork, and a spirit of service among children.

A Scout Investiture Ceremony marks the official induction of new members into the Scout Movement. During the ceremony, students take the Scout Promise and are presented with the Scout scarf and membership badges, symbolizing their commitment to uphold the values and principles of Scouting.

The Investiture Ceremony was held at Manav Setu, where 58 students were officially inducted as Scouts and Guides. They proudly took the Scout and Guide oath and received their scarves and badges, marking the beginning of their journey as responsible, disciplined, and service-minded members of the Scout and Guide Movement.

A free eye check-up camp was organised in support with Health and Care Hospital for the residents of the Ganesh Nagar community.

During the camp, 91 beneficiaries underwent comprehensive eye examinations. The screening identified 9 individuals with cataracts. These patients will be taken to the hospital tomorrow morning for further evaluation and the necessary treatment.

In addition, 14 people who required vision correction were provided with free spectacles on the spot.

We sincerely thank the entire team of Health and Care Hospital and everyone who contributed to making this camp a success.

At Manav Sadhna, every year begins with an evaluation test for all children to assess their learning levels and academic progress. The results help teachers understand each child’s strengths, identify learning gaps, and plan appropriate support for the new academic year. This assessment ensures that every child receives guidance based on their individual needs rather than only their age or grade level.

Children identified as slow learners through the evaluation are enrolled in our Pratham Class, a special foundation program designed to strengthen their basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills.
