Manav Sadhna

Manav Sadhna "Manav Sadhna, an NGO based in the Gandhi Ashram, Ahmedabad, is dedicated to the upliftment of the underpriveledge community accross the Ahmedabad city

In 1990, a team of young volunteers, inspired by Gandhian values, began gathering under the branches of a tree in the Gandhi Ashram every Saturday to play with street children. They provided the children with a nutritional meal and taught them about basic hygiene by cutting their nails and bathing them. This activity quickly came together into a full time endeavor working to brighten the future of

underprivileged children. Under the guidance of Gujarat Harijan Sevak Sangh, Safai Vidyalaya and Environmental Sanitation Institute (ESI), Manav Sadhna was established both in India and in the United States. Today, from a quiet corner in the Gandhi Ashram, Manav Sadhna serves more than 8000 children and women through more than 35 projects. We also indirectly touch the lives of many more individuals through our healthcare and educational support projects. The projects are created based on the needs and participation of the community.

POSHAK AAHAR PROGRAM
Poshak Aahar (Healthy Nutrtion) Project represents a holistic and compassionate approach to addressing child malnutrition in Ahmedabad’s underprivileged communities. By combining nutrition support, medical care, and community awareness, Manav Sadhna seeks to ensure that malnourished children recover fully and that families are equipped to sustain healthy practices. Support for this project will directly contribute to saving young lives, improving maternal health, and building healthier and more resilient communities.

Chhas(Buttermilk) is a great source of energy in this extreme summer for the people passing on the streets.
Manav Sadhna is offering free chhaas at key intersections and bus stations, ensuring that those most affected by the heat receive much-needed hydration and care.
With love and dedication, more than 1,500 individuals—including peddlers, daily wage earners, rickshaw drivers, and labourers—are served chhaas every day. This seva will continue over the coming weeks.

Yesterday afternoon, in the Khodiyaar Nagar area near Manav Setu Center, an abandoned elderly man was found lying in an open space in very poor condition. Due to a leg injury, he was unable to stand.
As soon as our Manav Setu Karyakartas noticed him, they helped him sit up, gave him water, cleaned him, and provided fresh clothes. Some young boys from the community also extended great support in helping and caring for him.Offered him tea, water, and food, which brought him some relief and comfort.
Later, we contacted “Manav Seva Sanstha” and arranged for him to be taken for proper care. The organization then took him to Danilimda Police Station for verification and eventually helped him reach his home. His family had been searching for him for the past 5 days, and they were extremely happy to see him back.
