We are deeply grateful to the Provincial Priory of Kent for their generous donation funding the new water well located at our Gaza City Hospital 🚰

The well will provide a sustainable and reliable source of clean water for the Hospital – a major issue since the destruction of the municipal water distribution network in the area – helping to maintain hospital operations and safeguard infection prevention and control standards.

It will also improve the availability of safe water for nearly 100,000 displaced people residing in surrounding camps and collective shelters.

This we want to highlight the fantastic work of our team in Gaza, much of which is made possible by our humanitarian partnerships 🤝

Last week alone, 125 litres of fuel were supplied to our Gaza Hospital by the World Health Organization (WHO), under our agreement with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

We also work closely alongside agencies such as UK-MED, UNICEF, and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to secure water, medicine, and essential surgical supplies.

Partnerships like these, along with the generous donations of our supporters, enable our teams to continue to provide sight-saving eye care in Gaza.

📢We’re delighted to announce that Major General Alastair Bruce of Crionaich CB OBE KStJ TD VR DL will be the guest speaker at the Guild’s upcoming lunch at Watermen’s Hall on Monday 14 September.

Major General Bruce is the Royal, Religious and National Events Commentator for Sky News, and has also worked for the BBC. He will speak about his experience commentating on major national events, particularly the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On Monday 6 July the Guild of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group hosted a wonderful event at the St John Priory Church, Levon Chilingirian and Friends in Concert 🎻🎶

World-renowned violinist Levon Chilingirian was joined by members of The Chilingirian Quartet as well as flute soloist Wissam Boustany and Palestinian pianist Marc Kawwas, treating guests to a beautiful programme of music in historic surroundings.

Following the concert, drinks and canapes were provided in the Cloister Garden. Guests also had the opportunity to buy Palestinian delicacies courtesy of Zaytoun and handmade glassware from the Holy Land from Bethlehem Baubles – as well as taking part in an exciting raffle, all in aid of the Eye Hospital’s work in Gaza.

Thank you to all who attended, with special thanks to the Lord Prior of the Order of St John, Prof. Mark Compton, and Order Hospitaller Dr. David Verity for their speeches on the night.

Last Thursday, our Executive Director, Harriet Wheeler, was delighted to join the Provincial Priory of Hertfordshire for dinner following their Annual Meeting, where members celebrated the third year of their Centenary Appeal.

Under the overarching banner of the Great Priory, the Appeal aims to raise £100,000 over 10 years in support of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group, helping to fund the salary of a dedicated nurse, ensuring patients continue to receive the expert care they need.

An incredible £73,000 has already been raised in just three years.

We are profoundly grateful to the Provincial Priory of Hertfordshire and to everyone who has supported the appeal. Your generosity is helping us to continue restoring sight and transforming lives across Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza.

We were honoured to be joined yesterday for St John’s Day by some very esteemed guests!

Her Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury and The Most Reverend the Archbishop of Jerusalem, with a delegation from the Cathedral, took part in our St John’s Day service in the chapel of our Jerusalem Hospital. The service was followed by a staff breakfast in the beautiful hospital gardens.
