Israel is on the verge of turning the “doomsday settlements” of E1 into a reality.

Support an effort in Congress to stop this plan from moving forward: www.newjewishnarrative.org/take-action/the-clock-is-ticking-on-e1

The moniker is well-earned. Construction of these settlements on a corridor of land east of Jerusalem would bisect the West Bank by severing the north from the south. It would pose an immense challenge to a lasting peace solution between Israel and the Palestinians by threatening the territorial contiguity necessary for a viable Palestinian state. For that reason, it has been an enduring red line for every administration since Clinton.

But this is a red line Prime Minister Netanyahu and Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich are eager to cross.

In recent months, the Israeli government has approved construction plans, published construction tenders, and is on the verge of accepting bids and exchanging contracts. Construction bids are expected to open on June 1 and close by July 6.

This makes the coming weeks a critical window for diplomatic intervention. Representatives Mark Pocan (D-WI) and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) are leading a letter to Secretary Rubio urging the administration to use every available diplomatic tool to halt the advancement of settlement construction in E1.

President Trump has repeatedly claimed to oppose Israeli annexation of the West Bank. It’s time he backed this rhetoric up with action. This letter urges Secretary Rubio to communicate clearly and at the highest levels that the United States views the acceptance of settlement construction bids as a direct contradiction of the President’s stated policy, and to use every tool at his disposal to halt this process before any bids are awarded.

Tell your member of Congress to join Representatives Pocan and Schakowsky in urging the State Department to say no to settlement construction in E1.

This video was recorded immediately after Amihai, CEO of Peace Now, left an interrogation under caution at the Binyamin police station.

Last week, Amihai was violently attacked and suffered a head injury during a tour at the Ein Samia spring in the occupied West Bank. Although the attackers acted openly and the incident was documented, he was the one summoned for questioning.

Special Update:
Lior Amihai, CEO of Peace Now, who was violently attacked and suffered a head injury last week during a tour at the Ein Samia spring in the occupied West Bank, has been summoned for questioning under caution tomorrow morning (Monday) at the Binyamin police station.

Although the attackers acted with their faces uncovered, and the entire incident was documented and widely reported in the media, to the best of our knowledge, the attackers have still not been arrested. Instead, the police are acting exactly as expected in the Ben Gvir era, choosing to question under caution the person who was attacked.

It should be noted that during the assault, Peace Now staff called the police, who did not arrive at the scene, and immediately afterward, Lior Amihai filed a police complaint.
