“After 12 hours of fundraising and giving back to my seminary, I thought I’d stop and reflect on what we’ve been doing.

It reminded me of the Rambam who discusses eight levels of charity, the highest being lifting someone up to your level as an equal in holiness. He offers the example of giving someone a job and the ability to stand on their own two feet.

As I dedicated myself to this fundraiser and worked to ensure that other young women can benefit from a year at Amudim the way I did, I realized that there is more than one way to help someone stand on their own feet.

There is a special holiness in helping someone strengthen their Judaism and ensuring they have a foundation they can carry with them for the rest of their lives. It is a gift unlike any other.”
