Selah supports immigrants throughout Israel whose lives have been torn apart by tragedy and who lack the resources to cope.

Sometimes all it takes is a little light…
We brought this plant to Rosa during one of our visits.
Since then, she has carefully moved it around her hospital bed, always searching for the sunlight.
About a year ago, Rosa, an 86-year-old immigrant with no family, was seriously injured during a missile strike.
Her home was destroyed, her belongings were lost, and her life was changed at once.
Since then, she has undergone multiple surgeries and a long rehabilitation journey.
Yet every day, she keeps moving forward, one small step at a time to rebuilding her life.
Like her little plant, Rosa is also searching for the light.
At Selah, we make sure to be there for her. We have helped her replace essential items, recover important documents, access benefits, making sure she does not face this journey alone.
Volunteers who speak her language visit regularly, spend time with her, and bring her books to read.
Long recovery is difficult for anyone, at 86, facing it without family by her side, makes it even harder.
The plant by Rosa's bedside reminds us that every person needs light in order to grow.

לפעמים כל מה שצריך הוא רק קצת אור ..

את העציץ הזה הבאנו לרוזה (שם בדוי) באחד הביקורים אצלה.
מאז, רוזה מזיזה אותו מצד לצד על גבי מיטתה, כדי שיקבל אור וימשיך לצמוח.

רוזה, עולה חדשה, ערירית בת 86, נפצעה קשה במתקפת הטילים מאיראן לפני שנה.
באחת, השתנו חייה לחלוטין: ביתה נהרס, רכושה ומסמכיה אבדו, היא עברה מספר ניתוחים ומאז - מצאה עצמה במסע שיקום ארוך ומאתגר עד היום.
למרות גילה המתקדם, בחרה רוזה להמשיך בטפולים ולהתמיד בשיקום. מידי יום, עקב בצד אגודל, עושה היא צעד נוסף בדרכה הארוכה חזרה לחייה.
גם עבור עצמה מחפשת רוזה את האור.

כמה מיגעת ומאתגרת היא שנה של שיקום ללא תמיכה של משפחה. על כן-אנחנו בסלע כאן עבורה. מזכירים לה שאינה לבד, שמישהו חושב עליה ויגיע לבקר גם בשבוע הבא.
אנו מלווים ותומכים, מסייעים לה ברכישת ציוד בסיסי, בשחזור מסמכים ובמיצוי זכויות. כדי להפיג את בדידותה, מבקרים אותה מתנדבים מסלע המשוחחים אתה בשפתה ואף דואגים לה לספרי קריאה.
העציץ שעל מיטתה מזכיר לכולנו שכל אדם זקוק לאור כדי לחיות ולצמוח.

This window was not broken by a rocket. It was broken by longing.

N. is a teenager with special needs. He does not speak; he expresses his emotions through actions.
Of all his siblings, he was closest to his older brother, Y. When the October 7 attack began, Y. did not hesitate - he took his personal weapon and went out to fight the terrorists. He chose to protect others. Through his bravery, he saved many lives. Tragically, he was murdered by the terrorists.

Since that day, N.’s longing for his brother has never faded. During the recent round of sirens, N. clutched Y.’s photograph, burst into tears, threw an object in anguish - shattering the window.

In her deep distress, his mother reached out to the Selah team for help. Selah's staff member listened with sensitivity, offered support and comfort, and arranged to have the window repaired.

If only we could repair the loss as easily… But we can be there for immigrants in need - by listening, supporting and helping carry the pain.

החלון הזה לא נשבר מטיל - הוא נשבר מגעגוע.
נ' הוא נער עם צרכים מיוחדים, הוא אינו מדבר - הוא מביע רגשות במעשים.
מבין כל אחיו, הוא היה הקרוב ביותר לאחיו הגדול - י'.
המשפחה, ממוצא אתיופי, עברה דרך לא פשוטה. האב נפטר לפני שנים בנסיבות טרגיות, ומאז האם מגדלת לבדה את הילדים במסירות רבה, למרות קשיים רבים.
במתקפת ה־7 באוקטובר הבן י' לקח את נשקו האישי ויצא להילחם במחבלים בדרום הארץ. בגבורתו, הציל חיים רבים. למרבה הצער, הוא נרצח על ידי המחבלים.
מאז, נ' מתגעגע לאחיו יום יום... הגעגוע לאחיו אינו מרפה. בסבב האזעקות האחרון, כשנשמעה האזעקה, נ' חיבק את תמונתו של י', פרץ בבכי, ובסערת רגשות זרק חפץ לעבר החלון. החלון נשבר.
אמו, במצוקתה הרבה, פנתה לאיש הצוות בסלע שהקשיב לה ברגישות , תמך וניחם. וגם דאג לתקן את החלון.

הלוואי שיכולנו לתקן כך גם את האובדן. אבל אנחנו כן יכולים להיות שם עבור משפחות שכולות ועולים חדשים שנפגעו מהמלחמה: להקשיב, לתמוך ולעזור למשפחות לשאת את הכאב.

בשבועות האחרונים השתתפו חברי הצוות של סלע בהכשרות ומפגשי שיתוף שנגעו בנושא קריטי לעשייה הטיפולית – שמירה עצמית וחוסן אישי. השתתפנו במפגש עם פסיכיאטר שמתמחה בטיפול במטפלים והוא נתן לנו עצות על הימנעות משחיקת מטפלים. כמו כן, עברנו סדנאות שעסקו בלמידת ידע מקצועי, עיבוד רגשי, וונטילציה, מיינדפולנס ואף עברנו סדנאת טיפול במוזיקה חווייתית ומעשירה.
אנו מכירים תודה לחברי צוות סלע על ההשתתפות הפעילות בהכשרות הללו ועל הסיוע המסור שהם מעניקים למטופלנו. 🌸🙏

In recent weeks, Selah's team members participated in professional training and sharing sessions that related to a critical issue for the therapeutic practice – self-preservation and caregivers' resilience. We held a captivating meeting with a psychiatrist who specializes in treating mental health professionals and gave us important advice on how to avoid caregivers' burnout. We also held workshops that dealt with interesting professional information, emotional processing, ventilation, mindfulness, and even participated in an enriching music therapy workshop. We are grateful to the Selah team for their active participation in these trainings and for the dedicated care they provide to our patients. 🌸🙏

This Sunday, we joined over ten partner organizations in a deeply moving ceremony honoring the fallen Olim soldiers of the Swords of Iron war.

These brave men and women, who made Aliyah to Israel, proudly joined the IDF, and gave their lives defending our country, embodied the true spirit of our country and our people. During the event, their families were invited to the stage to receive a special gift, including a commemorative book sharing the life stories of all the fallen immigrant soldiers.

The ceremony was attended by public figures and leaders, including the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, who came to pay tribute to these heroes and their families.

Selah was honored to take part in this meaningful event and continues to stand alongside the families of the fallen, accompanying them in their grief and their journeys towards healing. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇮🇱

ביום ראשון השתתפנו בטקס מרגש במיוחד, שנערך בשיתוף עם למעלה מעשרה ארגונים, להנצחת החללים העולים שנפלו במלחמת חרבות ברזל.

הגברים והנשים האמיצים הללו, שעלו לישראל, התגייסו בגאווה לצה"ל ומסרו את נפשם בהגנה על המדינה, גילמו את רוח העם והארץ שלנו במובן העמוק ביותר. במהלך הטקס, הוזמנו משפחותיהם של הנופלים לבמה, שם קיבלו שי מיוחד שכלל ספר הנצחה. בספר הופיעו סיפורי חייהם של רבים מן החללים העולים של המלחמה.

בין המשתתפים בטקס נכחו אנשי ציבור ומנהיגים ובהם נשיא המדינה, יצחק הרצוג, שבא לחלוק כבוד לגיבורים ולבני משפחותיהם.

עמותת סלע גאה לקחת חלק באירוע משמעותי זה, וממשיכה לעמוד לצד משפחות הנופלים, ללוות אותן באבלן ובדרכן להחלמה. גבורתם לא תישכח לעולם. 🇮🇱

We await with great excitement for the safe return of the hostages. After two excruciating years of vigilantly watching and waiting for their return, we wish to embrace and send our love to their families, who have waited so long.
We also hope for the safe return of all our brave soldiers and keep in our hearts those who fell in the line of duty or suffered injuries for the sake of our safety and security.

לאחר שנתיים מאתגרות של צפייה, דריכות והרבה דאגה, אנחנו רוצים לחבק ולחזק את משפחות החטופים.
