Why do we ask ?
Your ability to read a different script can be compared to the challenges of a person with specific learning difficulties (SpLD ).
Talia Trust helps by supporting projects so that the young people can acquire learning strategies which enable them to learn to read the text
You, our readers may not have SpLD, but reading online can be a challenge, especially when the text too small.

This year, in honour of her birthday (31 July 1983 כ״א באב תשמ״ג), Talia's brother, Jeremy, has updated her memorial website, with a fresh design and English translation, to ensure her story continues to be shared and remembered.

השנה, לכבוד יום הולדתה של טליה, שחל ב-31 ביולי 1983, כ"א באב תשס"ג, אחיה ג'רמי עדכן את אתר לזכר טליה על מנת להבטיח את המשכיות הסיפור אודותיה.
יש עיצוב חדיש גם תרגום חדש לאנגלית.
טליה תמיד ציפתה בכליון עיניים ליום הולדתה ונהנתה לחגוג עם משפחה וחברים.

This week Maurice chaired the Talia Trust AGM
The meeting concerned the financial year 2025 which was marked by the ongoing conflict and its severe effects on the young people who need the support of the Talia Trust. השבוע מוריס כינס את הישיבה הכללית השנתית של קרן טליה. הפגישה דנה בשנת הכספים 2025 שבה התנהלה המלחמה והשפעותיה על הצעירים שנזקקו לעזרה של קרן טליה. כמו כן, דנו בישיבה על הצפי ל-2026/27. הקליקו על הבלוג שלנו באתר לפרטים נוספים. ראו את הקישור בהערות להלן.

Marilyn has spoken recently with the principal and counsellor at Givat Gonen Forest school in Jerusalem, where we support a Talia Trust project. Over several years the school has expanded and strengthened its intake.
About 30% remain in a low economic status. Many of these children have multiple issues which affect their learning. This includes specific learning difficulties, so the children greatly benefit from the strategies they acquire in the remedial small groups which we provide.
Currently these sessions are learning English which the staff believe is very important as a bridge for success. The skills they learn are also transferable to other learning situations.
In addition to funding this project we are seeking a volunteer with appropriate education/social work experience who would be interested in visiting the school several times a year. Click the link in Comments for further details.
לאחרונה מרילין שוחחה עם המנהלת והיועצת של בי"ס יער גבעת גונן בירושלים, ששם יש לנו פרויקט של קרן טליה. בשנים האחרונות בית הספר הרחיב וחיזק את שורותיו. עדיין כ-30% מאוכלוסיית ביה"ס נמצאים במעמד כלכלי נמוך. לרבים מהתלמידים האלה יש בעיות שונות שמשפיעות על יכולת הלמידה שלהם. בין הבעיות אנו רואים קשיים לימודיים ספציפיים, כך שהילדים נעזרים מאוד מאסטרטגיות הלמידה שהם רוכשים בקבוצות קטנות שנתמכות על ידינו. כרגע הם מתמקדים בלמידת השפה האנגלית שהוכחה כגשר חשוב להצלחה. הכישורים שנלמדו משמשים אותם במצבי לימוד שונים.
בנוסף למימון הפרויקט אנחנו מחפשים מתנדבים עם ניסיון בחינוך או בעבודה סוציאלית שיהיו מוכנים לבקר בבית הספר כמה פעמים בשנה. הקליקו את הקישור ב"הערות" לפרטים נוספים

Keren Saar writes about our Talia Trust project at Shaar HaNegev:
I am happy to inform you that despite the war we managed to start with some of the students back in February. Immediately after Passover, we continued full force to give more and more students the opportunity to use our services.
Some students will want to continue during the summer break, and we already have a long waiting list for new students.

אני שמחה לבשר לכם שלמרות המלחמה הצלחנו להתחיל עם חלק מהסטודנטים כבר בפברואר. מיד לאחר פסח, המשכנו במלוא המרץ לתת ליותר ויותר סטודנטים את ההזדמנות להשתמש בשירותינו.
חלק מהסטודנטים ירצו להמשיך במהלך חופשת הקיץ, וכבר יש לנו רשימת המתנה ארוכה לסטודנטים חדשים.
