Rashi Foundation

Rashi Foundation The Rashi Foundation is one of the leading private philanthropies in Israel.

The Rashi Foundation works to strengthen Israeli society and drive sustainable change by promoting upward social mobility for individuals and communities in the geo-social periphery Since 1984, we have been working with our partners to promote social mobility and equal opportunity in Israel's geo-social periphery, with a focus on the educational and social welfare systems. Aiming to achieve signif

icant long-term impact, Rashi develops, operates, and co-funds innovative initiatives that empower individuals and communities, while also working to shape the public agenda and advocate for policy change. Our network of eight affiliate organizations delivers synergetic cradle-to-career solutions, thus increasing social impact on the ground. Rashi believes that working together with partners is the best way to effect system-wide change. Pooling resources with partners from the philanthropic, business, and government sectors allows us to test our models’ effectiveness, scale them up, and ensure their long-term sustainability as state-funded public services.

We can rebuild the North. But how do we build its future?

Strengthening the North also means creating meaningful employment opportunities for the people who live there. After a challenging period of war and displacement, it is clear that moving forward requires providing people with the skills they need for the jobs of tomorrow.

That is exactly why we launched Tzafon Tech, a joint initiative with Mifal HaPais, Cisco, Achinóam Association, and COB.

The initiative offers hands-on training in AI and high-tech, developed in collaboration with employers and tailored to the needs of today’s job market. Participants will benefit from professional guidance, mentorship from industry experts, a supportive community, and direct connections with employers.

The programs are designed for young adults, business owners, and anyone looking to make a career change.
No prior experience is required.

The future of the North will be built by the people who will lead tomorrow’s economy.

The school year has come to an end, but for children and teens in Kiryat Shmona, from kindergarten through 12th grade, it ended a little differently.

Over the past six weeks, together with the Kiryat Shmona Municipality and local schools, we created a comprehensive support program combining academic reinforcement, social activities, and emotional support.

Nearly 2,000 hours of learning, along with dozens of recreational and enrichment activities, took place in intensive programs within the schools themselves. Our shared goal was simple: to meet students where they are and give them the support they need most.

To help them feel better prepared for their matriculation exams, finish the school year with a stronger sense of confidence and capability, and move forward ready for what comes next.

None of this would have been possible without an incredible network of partners.

A heartfelt thank you to Rashi Foundation, Beyachad Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, Ronson Foundation, Azrieli Foundation, STD, Rosenblum Foundation, and FSJU Israel, alongside Beit Yatziv, the ORT and Branco Weiss education networks, and the Ministry of Education.

**How do we prepare the next generation to make decisions that change lives?**

We believe that philanthropy is about much more than giving. It is about understanding complex social challenges, evaluating impact, and making thoughtful decisions that create meaningful change.

That is why we are proud to partner in Impact Lab, a unique course led by the monday.com Foundation at Reichman University, in collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Shashua Family Foundation, and the Rashi Foundation.

Throughout the program, students reviewed more than 120 grant applications from nonprofits advancing social mobility across Israel. They explored real-world challenges, evaluated impact, and experienced firsthand the responsibility behind strategic philanthropic decision-making.

We believe that investing in future leaders is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen Israeli society. By giving students the opportunity to engage with real philanthropic challenges today, we are helping shape the changemakers of tomorrow.

Today we mark 18 years since the passing of Gustave Leven, founder of the Rashi Foundation. Gustave was a remarkable philanthropist whose generosity and vision, as well as a deep sense of social responsibility, helped shape lasting change in Israeli society. For over 40 years, the Rashi Foundation has been guided by his legacy, working to promote social mobility and equal opportunity in Israel's geo-social periphery.

At a time when Israel faces great challenges while demonstrating extraordinary resilience, Gustave Leven's legacy is more relevant than ever. We continue to draw inspiration from his values and remain committed to the path he charted — one that fosters resilience, hope, and a better future for all Israelis.

The future of philanthropy begins with the next generation of changemakers.

We are proud to partner in the Strategic Philanthropy course, led by the monday.com Foundation at Reichman University, in collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Rashi Foundation, and the Shashua Family Foundation.

Throughout the semester, students reviewed more than 120 grant applications from nonprofits advancing social mobility across Israel. They explored complex social challenges, evaluated impact, and experienced firsthand the responsibility of making thoughtful philanthropic funding decisions.

At Demo Day, the students presented their recommendations to leaders from the philanthropic, nonprofit, and technology sectors. It was inspiring to see a new generation approach philanthropy with professionalism, curiosity, empathy, and a deep sense of responsibility.

At the Rashi Foundation, we believe that investing in future leaders is key to building a stronger and more resilient society. We are grateful to the monday.com Foundation, Reichman University, the Dean of Students, the Shashua Family Foundation, and everyone who made this meaningful initiative possible.

Remembering. Commemorating. Keeping the memory alive.
This year, in honor of Israel’s memorial day for fallen soldiers, we joined a moving initiative called “Memory Letters”.

Our logo on social media will appear in the handwriting of Staff Sergeant Noa Price, who fell on October 7 at the Nahal Oz post.
Noa was a young woman full of joy and dreams, who chose to serve and to excel in her service.
With her passing, her dreams were lost - as were those of all who loved her. Yet the light within her continues to shine even today.

May her memory be a blessing.
