Rover Interrailing trip 2026🚞

Our 6 Rovers went on an adventurous trip through Europe visiting 5 countries over 2 weeks. Starting off in Cologne, Germany. Then moving through Prague, Munich, Switzerland and finishing off in Lake Bled, Slovenia.

The activities ranged from wandering through cities doing tourist activities to doing camping, high ropes courses, hiking and mountain tubing in Kandersteg, Switzerland.

There were many fun moments and many stressful moments and many many late trains. But overall the trip was amazing. Thanks to everyone that supported and helped and glad everyone survived the trip.

After months of planning and fundraising our Ventures headed off to The Netherlands!

'On the first day we all woke up at the crack of dawn to catch our early morning flight. Everything looked grey until the snack trolley made its appearance on the plane. After settling in, everyone gathered to meet the podcaster who told us all about Efteling. With a good night of sleep the ventures headed out to Efteling, where they enjoyed a lot of exciting roller coasters. On the third day the troop got to experience the Dutch culture. We headed out to Heusden, an old town full of historic landmarks. After coming back we finished the day off with a friendly volleyball match on the near lake. On the 4th day we got to meet the Dutch scouts. We enjoyed a water activity organised by them and a BBQ and songs organised by us to share our Irish folklore songs. On the last full day everybody hiked an astonishing 26m of altitude gain and around 21 km distance. Next morning we packed our things and went on a last dip in the lake before heading to the airport.
Full of memories, funny moments and happy stories to tell we returned to Ireland.
A huge thanks to all leaders who made this camp possible!!!"

Cubs had a fantastic Action Packed Cub Camp!

This year they ran an urban camp using public transport to explore some of Dublin city’s best fun spots. They kicked off with a trip to Jeanie Johnston — and it did not disappoint! From start to finish it was EPIC.
From there they walked down to the World of Illusions and had a cracking time.

With it being such a hot, fantastic day, they headed over to St. Patrick’s Park where there was entertainment and lots going on. They enjoyed a lovely ice cream in the park before heading back.

In the evening they returned to Blackrock Den where they stayed the night, celebrated a birthday, and had a wonderful evening full of Scout fun.

Golly fishing, a Cub year highlight!

*We had a fantastic night with the Cubs Golly Fishing! 🦀*

Huge thanks to all the Cubs who came down to the bridge. The crabs were biting and the craic was mighty. Lines in, nets ready, and plenty of “I got one!” shouts all evening.

*Where did “Golly Fishing” come from?*
Nobody knows for sure, but “golly” is old Irish slang for a shore crab. Some say it came from “gollóg” meaning a little round thing. Others reckon it’s just what Dublin kids have called it for generations. Either way, it’s been a rite of passage at the seaside for over 100 years — string, bacon, and a bucket. No fancy gear needed.

The beavers had a lovely evening getting out and about following the golly trail!
They learned bits of information about water safety while out and tried figure of 8 knots when back in the lodge.
