Bungoma Outreach

Bungoma Outreach We are a group of 30 committed volunteers, united by a shared belief in the power of community and the drive to create meaningful change.

Bungoma Outreach Project |
Empowering communities in Bungoma, Kenya by constructing a safe home for teen mums, renovating school roofs and floors, expanding access to clean water, and supporting sustainable local farming initiatives. Though we come from different walks of life, we’re connected by one purpose: to stand in solidarity with the people of Bungoma County, Kenya. This October, we’ll make

the journey — not as outsiders offering solutions, but as partners ready to listen, learn, and work side by side. Together with local communities, we’ll support teenage mothers, orphaned children, and schoolchildren facing real and urgent challenges. Our mission is simple: to make a real difference. Through this project, we will:

🏠 Help build safe, dignified housing for young mothers.
🛠 Renovate orphanages and schools in need of repair.
🚿 Provide clean drinking water and sanitation through water tanks.
🧸 Create safe play spaces and cribs so young mums can focus on learning.
🌱 Support local farming initiatives that empower long-term change. This page will be our space to share updates, fundraising goals, stories, and milestones. We’d love for you to join us, cheer us on, support us, sponsor us, and participate in this project.

🫶 Change happens when communities lift each other — let’s rise together.

👉 Follow us to keep up with the journey. Comment, share, and help us spread the word!

Bungoma Outreach 2027
Real projects, real people, real impact
We are delighted to share the projects planned for Bungoma Outreach 2027.

Each project has been chosen because of the difference it can make in everyday life, whether that means children learning in safer classrooms, students having access to clean water and better sanitation, or families and communities having spaces that feel more secure, welcoming and full of possibility.

Our planned projects include:

🏠 Completion of the Ester and Michele house, helping to make it a safe, practical and comfortable space for teenage mothers and their children.

🌿 Improving and securing the outdoor areas around the house, including gardens and shared spaces that can be enjoyed by the children and cared for by their mums.

🏫 Replacing galvanised sheets at Robenna Primary School, helping to create a better learning environment for the children and staff.

💧 Drilling a borehole and creating a safe water collection space for women and girls, supporting access to clean water and future community development.

🚰 Completing the borehole at Mbakalo Girls High School, including a hybrid pump system to help provide a more reliable water supply.

🚻 Completing a shower block and biodigester at a Girls High School, supporting dignity, hygiene and better facilities for the students.

🎶 Music collaboration with students, giving young people the chance to share their voices, creativity and spirit.

📚 Building two new classrooms, an ECD block, at Miyuke Primary School, giving younger children more space to learn, grow and begin their education in a better environment.

Over the next while, we will share more about what is involved in each project, why it matters and the impact it can have for the people of Bungoma.

Thank you to our volunteers and everyone who continues to support Bungoma Outreach. Together, these projects can become something truly meaningful. 💜💛

BOP27: Supporting dignity, privacy and opportunity at Mbakalo Girls High School 💛

In 2027, one of our Bungoma Outreach Projects will help transform the daily lives of the girls at Mbakalo Girls High School.

This project will convert an existing shower block into a functional wash facility, reconnect a water borehole, and install a biodigester, helping create a private, safe, and dignified space for the girls to shower.

It is a practical project with a deeply human impact, supporting health, confidence and wellbeing in a very real way.

Listen below as Carol, the school's principal, explains what this new facility will mean for the girls, their school, and their community.

We are so excited to be part of making this happen. ✨

💜 💛

In October 2025, 31 volunteers travelled to Bungoma to support eight incredible projects.
They went above and beyond anything we ever dreamed possible.

One of those teams had the goal of reflooring five school rooms to help children return safely to their classrooms.

Here’s a reminder of what they achieved 💜 💛

Looking forward to creating more memories with our 2027 volunteers 😍

Our Bungoma Outreach Programme is rooted in partnership, practical support, and lasting change in local communities. During our time in Bungoma County, Kenya, we worked together to help rebuild classrooms and support a better learning environment for local children.

A huge thank you to PJ from Gravity Group and John Culligan from Network International Cargo, two of our 2025 volunteers who did so much more than sponsor our Bungoma Outreach Project.

They showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and worked as part of our volunteer team throughout our time there. Their commitment, energy, and willingness to get stuck in made a real difference, and we are so grateful for everything they brought to the project.

This video is a way of saying thank you for the genuine difference your support and hard work made on the ground💜💛

Hi everyone, we’re so excited to be returning to Bungoma in February 2027🙌

We wanted to share a look at one of the special projects we’re hoping to complete next year.
Michelle’s House is very close to our hearts, and seeing it finished would be a dream come true for our team. More importantly, it will provide a safe and caring home for 30 teenage girls, giving them a place to live while they attend school and care for their babies.

👀If you’re a skilled tradesperson or simply handy and willing to help, please think about joining our volunteers next year for what truly will be a trip of a lifetime 💜💛

It’s hard to believe it’s only been four days since the Bungoma Outreach volunteers returned home to Ireland and the UK from Kenya. I’m still amazed at what this incredible group of big-hearted, determined people achieved during their time in Kibisi and Webuye.
For many, it was their first time experiencing the warmth and generosity of Bungoma’s wonderful children; their openness, kindness, and joy touched every one of us.

👇Here’s a glimpse of Day 1.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll share more from the journey of our remarkable volunteers. It was a privilege to be there with them, to share in the laughter, the tears, the compassion, and to see firsthand their unwavering drive to make a difference.

To everyone who took part: thank you for your spirit, your energy, and your kindness. You’ve helped make a dream a reality😍🙌🤩

After an extraordinary time in Bungoma County, Kenya, our Bungoma Outreach Project volunteers have returned home - inspired, grateful, and forever changed. In less than a week they:
👉Laid the first 3,500 blocks of a new home for young mothers.
👉Completed concreting seven classroom floors.
👉Reroofed primary school classrooms.
👉Planned and planted a school vegetable garden.
👉Mentored hundreds of secondary school students
👉Refurbished two dormitories in an orphanage.
👉Built bunk beds and supplied blankets and mattresses for the children.
👉Made cots for young mothers and babies at an enterprise centre so they could learn while keeping baby safe beside them.

It has been a week of sharing skills, learning, gratitude and deep connection - a powerful reminder that when compassion meets action, lives are transformed on both sides.

Words could never express how grateful we are for having the most dedicated, passionate and kindest team of volunteers. Along with the long hours of hard manual work, you made time to share your skills, and open your hearts to the children of Bungoma💜💛
