Rising Voices - Rising Hope
Rising Voices is a community choir in Wexford Town promoting a social outlet of inclusivity & support through music to promote positive mental for those affected by su***de.
This unique project is being created to bring people together to sing, have fun and possibly perform. The focus will be on singing in a supportive group that will allow the group to have fun, get to know each other and open up about their experiences if and when they may be ready in an informal way.
Rising Voices was launched with a concert in the Wexford Arts Centre in August 2018 and has been running fortnightly classes since then. The project was the brainchild of Mark Ennis in honour of his brother Barry Ennis, who promoted bands and music events in the Wexford area before his tragic death.
Local musicians will also be invited to join some of the evenings to inspire and encourage the singers and help them to learn original songs by the local bands or solo artists. The group may co-write an original song of their own and/or potentially record some backing vocal on a fund-raising album of original songs by local artists related to the theme of hope following tragic loss due to su***de.
