The energy in the Riverside Hotel on Friday was nothing short of transformative. 💜

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, we gathered in Enniscorthy for a morning defined by solidarity, courage, and a shared commitment to change. From the powerful stories shared by survivors including the harrowing reality of "nudification" and digital abuse to the collective strength in the room, it was a reminder of why the Wexford Women’s Refuge exists: to ensure no woman walks her path alone.

We were incredibly proud to spotlight our Woman of the Year nominees. A huge congratulations to Robyn O’Connor, Leighea Carroll, Jenny Carlisle, and Rebecca Walsh. You are all beacons of inspiration in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to our MC Sharon Clancy, and our expert panel for sharing their vital perspectives: Sonia Milbourn, Dr Kenny Doyle, Christine Doyle, and Anne Murphy & Róisín Shanahan (SETU).

A massive thank you to the many organizations from the Wexford Firefighters to the ICA, Girl Guides, and the Cornmarket Project who showed up to stand with us.
Change happens when we listen, believe, and act together. Thank you for being part of that movement. 🤝✨

🌟 Huge congratulations to Wexford’s own Robyn O’Connor! 🌟

What an incredible achievement to be named Wexford Women’s Refuge Woman of the Year for International Women’s Day 2026.

Robyn continues to inspire both on and off the pitch — representing Leinster Rugby, the Ireland Sevens, and the Ireland women’s national team with pride, power, and heart.

Her dedication, resilience, and leadership make her a phenomenal role model for women and girls across the county and beyond.

Wishing Robyn continued success in all her accomplishments — the future is bright, and Wexford is right behind her every step of the way 💙💛🇮🇪

Huge thanks to Robyn's mam Tracy for receiving the award on her behalf 🥰
