WALK was proud to attend the Adult Literacy for Life Collaboration and Innovation Fund project showcase recently in Ballymun Adult Education Service. The CIF funds projects which support adults with unmet literacy, numeracy, digital and financial numeracy needs.

WALK was one of the community organisations that benefited from the fund in 2025 through a partnership with CDETB Crumlin College. The project focused on improving financial literacy for students with intellectual disabilities through a 6 week money management course.

is an annual campaign led by the Disability Federation of Ireland that brings together people with disabilities, local authorities, and the wider community to highlight everyday obstacles-like cars, bins, and bicycles blocking footpaths-that make public spaces inaccessible.

Well done to some of Walk’s advocates for shining a light on the everyday obstacles that make our public spaces harder to access. Everyone deserves a community that’s open and welcoming to all!

WALK is delighted to collaborate with Sysco Ireland on this innovative Purpose Academy, which brings industry and together. It will provide meaningful training and experience for people who just need a little additional support to find their place in the world of work.

Thanks to all the team at Sysco Dublin for their work in bringing the Purpose Academy to life and we look forward to working together to see how much Patrick, Kyle, Shelly and Patrick will learn over the next six weeks.

Last week- to mark National Carers Week, we were delighted to welcome Clare Duffy from Family Carers Ireland to speak with our family carers about the new Long-Term Carers Contribution Scheme.

This important initiative recognises the vital & often unseen work of family carers by ensuring their contribution are visible for pension purposes- a long-overdue acknowledgment of the selfless care they provide day in, day out.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our family carers for the incredible work you do, and to Family Carers Ireland for your continued advocacy and support.
