Care to Share

Who benefits from our weekends? People in need of a holiday who appreciate a short break are given the opportunity to take part in a fun filled weekend in a relaxed caring environment. Families with children with a disability are encouraged to join us on these trips and join in the fun reassured that there is trained support available to care if needed with their sick child, allowin

g the parents to have some fun with the other siblings knowing that their child is having a fun time too. For individuals with a disability often these trips are the first opportunity for the young person to experience time away from their families creating memories and stories to tell on their return. These trips encourage the young person to become independent and encourages them to develop a network of friends. They eagerly await these trips and our waiting list continues to grow. Activities on these weekends

Activities include sailing, banana boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, archery, wall climbing and a wide range of arts and crafts. Many more activities are available from the expertly trained staff in Share Discovery Village. Our volunteer helpers also manage to arrange seasonal activities such as Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween fun and games, Christmas Parties , Beach Parties, Teddy Bears Picnic to add to the fun. All meals are provided, whether it's a BBQ, a home made curry or a trip to a local Chinese it is all enjoyable and for many a first experience. Off site activities include shopping in nearby Eniskillen, visit to the Ulster Folk Museum in Omagh to name a few. Each weekend programme and menu is designed for the individuals attending to ensure they experience a wide range of activities
and enjoy lots of fun. Comments from parents

"The children had a ball! we are hearing all about speed boats and Easter Bonnets, to you and your team, thank you so much you have no idea how much we needed the break." " They all had a ball, the youngest cried the minute he saw the house and realised he was home. The mum said it was brilliant and I don't think she has ever used that word to describe anything before, Thanks so much"
