Tuam Scouts has been an important pillar of the local community since 1932. Many of our local teachers, sports persons, employers, professionals and parents have themselves been scouts in the past. Some have gone on to remain involved with the group as scouters, keen to pass on their knowledge and hand down the scouting tradition to the next generations. We know that they will all agree when we say that the experience has stood to them and taught them, from an early age, the lifelong benefits of being part of a community and life skill-centred team from an early age.
In order to keep these groups fully functioning and to provide all beavers, cubs and scouts with the experiences and skills that that we offer, we are desperately looking for help from parents and adults of the community. Without adult scouters, the groups simply cannot meet and take part in activities.
As you may have seen in the newspapers a few months ago, the Den looks forward to a complete renovation, with the help of the Galway County Council. It will become a community-based facility. The scouts are already looking forward to the possibilities and potential that the new facility will offer.
We are delighted to have an open night in the Scout Den tonight at 7pm (on old road, behind the old FCA barracks). We look forward to meeting some new and potential scouts. If your child is interested in joining, please come along.
We would plead also for any adults who are open to becoming scouters with the group to come along also. We will provide you with 1st hand information and answer any questions you have.
