We would kindly ask people who are attending to their graves to either dispose of old wreath and flower etc in the bins provided in the graveyard or to take them home with them.

It has been very disheartening to find old wreaths, flowers, broken flower pots, vases and candles dumped at the entrance to the altar and in and around the flower beds especially with the many hours of hard work which are spent year round by Rathass Graveyard Committee, Rathass Cemetery CE Scheme and our wonderful volunteers in keeping The People’s Altar clean and tidy and in maintaining and upgrading the flower beds to make the graveyard look pleasing for visitors.

We ask all visitors to please be mindful and respectful when attending and cleaning off their graves.

Another busy few days at Rathass Graveyard despite the rain. A special thank you to Eamon McAuliffe and Kevin Griffen who joined us on Thursday evening to clear out the flower bed near the entrance to the graveyard in Ballinorig, dig out the overgrown shrubs and top up the soil and clean up the area around the flower bed. The flower bed was planted over the weekend with beautiful colourful flowers once again sourced from Boyles of Ballyseedy.

The remaining flowers will be planted over the coming fortnight in preparation for the mass on 8th July.

Would any volunteers be available to help dig out a flower bed at the People’s Altar on Thursday evening at 6.30pm for about an hour. We would be very grateful. Thank you.

We made the most of the glorious weather over the weekend getting some jobs done in Rathass Graveyard in preparation for the annual mass in July. The flower beds were weeded, the soil topped up and turned, the shrubs pruned and some new ones planted which were sources from Boyles of Ballyseedy. A special thank you to Jackie Locke who helped us out on Saturday evening.

We had a lovely afternoon at Rathass Graveyard celebrating the Procession to Our Lady. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to Fr Francis Nolan for the beautiful prayers and blessing and for blessing our new statues in The People’s Alter. Also a special thank you to Nancy Tangney for praying the Rosary and Sean O’Connor for the sound system. The Statue of Our Lady is the original statue from the alter which was restored and repainted for today’s procession by our long serving committee member Danny Lawlor.

Another busy week at Rathass Graveyard ahead of the Procession to Our Lady which will be celebrated today, Sunday 3rd May, at 3pm. Thank you to Rathass Cemetery CE Scheme for the work done during the week as well as our volunteers Alana, Hamad & Zahidullah who joined us on Friday evening. Our final statue, the Crucifix, was also installed during the week by Kingdom Memorials and the talented John mccarthy Carpentry and Joinery who also designed the beautiful cross. Looking forward to see you today.

A wonderful day at Rathass Graveyard today making the most of the fine weather. Phase 1 complete today in preparation for the Procession to Our Lady which will be held on Sunday 3rd May at 3pm. We had a very busy day today with the installation of the beautiful new statues in the Altar. Thank you Kingdom Memorials for sourcing and installing them. Our pergola was also painted by Paul Fitzgerald today and we began planting of our flowers which were sourced and Supplied by Boyles of Ballyseedy.

Rathass Cemetery CE Scheme was also busy the past week painting the flower pots, fencing and the cross inside the alter area and grass cutting.

These works would not be possible without the generosity and support of the people of Tralee & beyond. We wish to thank all those who supported our annual collection at Easter and the volunteers who helped us with the collection.

Phase 2 commences in early June when we will commencing planting of the flower beds in and around The People’s Alter in preparation for the annual mass in July.

We had the pleasure of installing 2 beautiful glazed white marble statues into the alter in Rath cemetery today, with a 3rd one to go in during the week ahead of the May mass next weekend. Huge thanks to Rathass Graveyard committee for trusting us to take care of such a special job.

ANNUAL MASS
Wednesday 9th July @ 7:30pm

Final preparations for the Rathass Graveyard Annual Mass. Flowers are in full bloom against the backdrop of our new pergola which was re built earlier this year with the financial assistance of the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Kerry County Council 2025 Local Enhancement Programme after the original pergola was destroyed in Storm Eowyn at the start of 2025. Thankfully the weather for tomorrow night is looking very promising.
