Aaron first started in the club many years ago becoming a regular at training, club events and junior blitzes. Over the years Aaron has improved his skills and understanding of Wheelchair Basketball and making him a valuable player on the team in matches but also a leader and great supporter of all of his teammates. As Aaron progressed and got older this leadership was evident at training and during blitzed. As he aged up the opportunity of senior Basketball came up with Aaron joining Limerick Celtics.
This was a different type of playing and gave him a fantastic opportunity to go further with his skills and see where it could lead him. First training with under 19 academy and later moving onto Clonaslee Wheelchair Basketball Club where he continued his progression in the senior league. This effort and improvement in his skills and performances led to the call up to the Ireland u23 team which were going to compete in Barcelona.
In match one the team were beaten by France but recovered in game 2 with a well deserved win over Sofia Balrkan. In a tense and hugely competitive game 3 against Catulunya, Aaron and his teammates came out with a 1 point victory in double overtime. This qualified them to the Final against France again. Unfortunately it was not to be against France ans the tournament ended with a defeat. This was a fantastic effort by the team and securing a silver medal a huge achievement for this young team.
We as a club have watched him grow and develop as a person and a player over the years. Seeing him represent himself and his family, as well as all his teammates past and present in his Irish jersey has been amazing. We are all extremely proud of you for what you have achieved and the person you have become. Congratulations on your amazing achievement and we can't wait for what the future holds for you.
