Bean Together: A Crop for the Future

LCYP Coordinator Nuala Martin recently attended this inspiring, child-led arts project in Clonoulty, where creativity, play and community come together.

Through printmaking, pop-up builds and shared making, young people are not just participants, but co-creators, shaping ideas, spaces and stories rooted in their own environment.

Projects like this show the power of creative collaboration and youth voice, reimagining rural spaces through playful ecology and imagination.

A huge well done to all involved in delivering such a meaningful and innovative initiative. 👏

Last Thursday, LCYP Coordinator Nuala Martin joined a special national webinar as part of the SPARK Youth Arts Festival, hosted by NYCI’s National Youth Arts Programme in partnership with Maynooth University.

The webinar shared key findings from a national mixed-methods doctoral study on how youth work uniquely fosters creativity, introducing the ‘Four Dimensions of Creativity’ framework. Participants explored evidence-based insights, case studies from Limerick Youth Service’s Lava Javas Youth Café, and a panel discussion on the future of creativity in youth work, policy, and practice.

Nuala joined panelists including Dr. Saoirse Reynolds Conlon, Dr. Sinéad McMahon, Liz Coman (Arts Council), Kate Delaney (Creative Ireland Programme), and young representative Mason Creedy, contributing LCYP’s perspective on creative partnerships, seldom-heard voices, and youth-led innovation.

This webinar highlighted how youth work can empower young people, support inclusion, and transform creative practice across Ireland, a key focus of LCYP’s ongoing work in Tipperary. 🌟

Building Strong Creative Networks Across Tipperary 🤝

This week, LCYP Coordinator Nuala Martin met with the Tipperary Childcare Committee as part of LCYP’s ongoing creative network-building work.

At the heart of the Local Creative Youth Partnership model is connection, bringing professionals from different sectors together to share knowledge, align approaches, and build a shared understanding of youth-centred creative practice.

These connections help reduce duplication at a local level, strengthen collaboration, and create sustainable networks that extend far beyond LCYP, ensuring better outcomes for children and young people across the county.

This is how creativity grows, through collaboration, partnership and shared purpose. ✨

“A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed” at Cahir Library!

Last Friday, Joanna Parkes brought her incredible show to Cahir Library, performing 3 shows for 24 children and their parents, carers, and guardians. 🌟

The children laughed, learned, and explored the importance of friendship and kindness in a fun, interactive performance, a wonderful example of creative, youth-focused engagement in our community! 💛

Lullaby Leaf is a captivating, joyful and immersive sensory theatre experience created by Connected Theatre Company for young children with additional needs and their guardians/carers.

Through music, movement, light, smell and touch, children were invited on a magical sensory journey, living on a giant leaf and experiencing whooshing winds, falling raindrops, busy bugs and bursts of colourful canopy, brought to life by a talented team of artists from music, dance, visual arts, theatre and circus.

LCYP was proud to fund our biggest initiative to date, supporting this sensory arts performance at St Anne’s Special School, Roscrea. Alongside the performance, participants and practitioners explored immersive, multi-sensory approaches, gaining hands-on experience and inspiration to bring creativity and inclusion into every learning space.

A huge thank you to Ceol Connected, all facilitators and participants for making this such a dynamic, inspiring and impactful experience. 💡✨
