A collaboration between the Strandhill Community Development Association Sligo Airport Sligo County Council and Local Businesses has replaced and upgraded several bins on the peninsula. This is alarming, but well done to our Coastal Erosion sub-committee for advancing this to bring it fruition alot of work was done behind the scenes. It is great news that action is being done on this. Well done to the elected representatives who backed the report. Well done to Sligo County Council . Hopefully the application to OPW is succesfull! This is the power of local community and local councillors pulling together with local government- the support was across the political spectrum at council level.

A shock report on coastal erosion says Strandhill could lose up 94 meters of land to the sea over the next 100 years. Easkey will also suffer similar erosion.
