Great to see the fry in the streams today after all the floods over the last few weeks. We just have to make sure no predators take a liking to them now.

Great to see the students of Colaiste Iognaid helping out today releasing the last of the fry with John. Thats another highly successful year at the hatchery coming to a close with approximately 210000 fry released back into the system. Thanks to all the volunteers who help out since October and made this year so productive. A shout out also to the 9 clubs of the federation for funding all this work.

Happy New year to all our followers and friends.
Thanks to the dedication of Mike and the team of volunteers looking after the hatchery the first of the eggs in one or two of the trays have just started to hatch in the last few days. The water temperature is 4°c and we have a survival rate of 95.9% of the fertilised eggs so far this year.
We'll keep you posted with more updates in the coming weeks.

Very disappointing to see images coming in today from 4 different locations on the lake. Birchall, killbeg, Burnthouse and Annaghdown. Today is the first calm day recently and the level of runoff from the land is evident. Not good when you see our government trying to get an extension to the nitrates directive. It's not just lough Neagh and lough Derg that's in trouble.
Two images now from Derrymoyle, Oughterard this evening, these algae blooms are present all over the lake.
