Abuse and intimidation in politics threaten our democracy. Everyone benefits when elected representatives - and their families - are safe. I welcome the launch of Renewed Call to Action for the Devolved Nations.

Studies show that women are more likely to prioritise sustainability initiatives and invest in the climate. This is important as women and girls are disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change.

Women are also a driving force behind the adoption of renewable energies and environment taxes as penalties for businesses who act irresponsibly.

More women in politics means a firm commitment to climate action and environmental justice!

Women’s Spaces’ ‘Pillars for Peace’ toolkit.

An amazing tool to facilitate, encourage and increase women’s role in peacebuilding in NI.

Thank you to for having me as a panellist at the launch of the Women’s Assembly along side Andree Murphy, Leanne Abernethy, Kelsey Doyle and MariaElena Costa Sa.

This was such a great event to highlight:

-The importance of including women in conversation and discussions on the constitutional question

-How discussing these issue can help us imagine a shared feminist future regards of our position on the issue.

-And how viewing the constitutional question through a feminist lens allows for nuanced and respectful disscussion, which had been historically lacking in male dominated conversations on the issue.

It was also great to hear from Minister Neale Richmond and Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blaine at the women’s assembly launch. It’s encouraging to hear the minister discuss the importance of women in politics and prioritising Women, peace and security at home and abroad.

It was also great to hear the minister acknowledge that many of our diaspora community are victims of institutional abuse. We cannot forget this dark part of Ireland’s past or those who live with the trauma of it everyday.
