The inaugural Hi Festival took place on the 10 - 12 July 2015 in Mullingar, in the Heart of Ireland where 9 Hearts of Gold received their awards. There was an action-packed weekend for all the family from pig-racing to the Irish Chamber Orchestra. The Heart of Ireland Festival is an opportunity to identify and acknowledge good people – both men and women – who are part of our Irish community world
wide, living examples of the very best qualities we associate with being Irish. In 2015, nine Heart of Gold Award recipients were selected; representing Australia, Manchester, Leeds, Ulster, Munster, Connacht, Leinster, Westmeath and Mullingar. THE 2015 HI FESTIVAL PROGRAMME:
FRIDAY 10TH JULY / OPENING NIGHT
The Hi Festival opened with the National Chamber Orchestra in Mullingar Arts Centre (MAC) at 8pm. SATURDAY 11TH JULY

Rebecca Storm was in concert with special guest Emmet Cahill in MAC at 8pm. SUNDAY 12TH JULY
On Sunday 12th July, the Mullingar Agricultural Show kicked off at 10am; there was an enchanting tour of the Hill of Uisneach lead by local archaeologist Justin Moffitt and seanachai, Marty Mulligan at 1pm and Lords of Strut performed their family matinee show at the Arts Centre at 2pm. In the evening, the Josephine Hart Poetry Hour took place at 6pm on the lakeshores of Lough Ennell at Bloomfield House Hotel, followed by Poetry in the Park. The Festival's grand finale was at 9pm in Bloomfield House Hotel where all the Hearts of Gold received their award, followed by a night of dance. For more information, visit www.heartofireland.ie
