Starting this Friday, 7th August, we're delighted to welcome older adults to a FREE 3-week Somatix programme at Moate Sports & Recreation Centre, kindly supported by Age & Opportunity Ireland.
But what exactly is Somatix?
Somatix is a gentle movement approach that focuses on helping you become more comfortable and confident in your body. The classes use slow, controlled movements rather than strenuous exercise, making them suitable for older adults, beginners and people who may not feel comfortable in a traditional exercise class.
They can be particularly beneficial for people who have experienced an injury or a period of reduced mobility and are looking for a gentle way to get moving again at their own pace.
The classes may help with:
π§ Mobility & flexibility β making everyday movements easier
βοΈ Balance & coordination β supporting confidence when moving
π Stiffness & muscle tension β gentle movement can help the body relax
πΏ Posture & body awareness β becoming more aware of how you move
π Confidence & wellbeing β enjoying movement in a relaxed, supportive environment
There is no racing, no pressure and no need to keep up with anyone else. Everyone can work at their own pace.
