We were blessed by a visit from, “Sarah Horgan”, of the 'Irish Examiner' and camera man, “Larry Cummins” - when they visited us at our site in, 'Little Silver, Brinny' last Wednesday.
Many a reader would have been greeted to a near half page spread - featuring the culmination of our effort. The lines we pilots draw in the sky were so eloquently committed to paper, that they would have touched the hearts of many a person who read them.
There was a tidy turnout that day - each individual contributing to the days' events with a story to tell, and a plane to display. Al Hamilton was the only man brave enough to face the blustery conditions. Most were content to relax in the presence of one another, helped by a few burgers from the BBQ, along with some tea and refreshments to quench their thirst.
We'd like to thank Sarah and Larry for so thoughtfully interviewing and talking to each person they engaged with. Matt Quin (president), Dave Duff (secretary), Les Gosnell (Treasurer), Al Hamilton (MACI Delegate), Chris Teroni (drone pilot), Eoin O'Callaghan (F3A pilot), Edward Lowe (Chairman), and also Rob Allen, Barry Leech and Ian Anderton - each contributing greatly to our continued success.
Cork Model Aero Club chairperson Edward Lowe admits it is becoming more difficult to attract younger members, 'but there is also a sense of nostalgia about doing what you did with your dad as a child in adulthood'.
