, our Chairperson Charlotte Gillian and Vice Chairperson Rebecca Murray of Mayo Comhairle na nÓg went live on Midwest Radio with host Tommy Marren.
They discussed their experiences as members of Comhairle na nÓg and highlighted the work carried out throughout the year on our key topic “Addiction,” with a particular focus on va**ng.

Charlotte and Rebecca also shared details about our upcoming Annual Youth Conference, which will take place on October 22nd at the Ivy Tower Hotel.

Last week, Mayo Cómhairle na nÓg attended this years epic event the National Showcase which is hosted once every two years, to showcase the work all 31 Comhairles across Ireland, have been working on.
The previous years topic for us was “School and Exam Stress” which gave us the chance to get the word out about future careers or further education after Secondary School such as College, Apprenticeships, etc… It has been an amazing year and the current members are very anxious to get started and continue working on our new topic which is Addiction. We will keep you all updated through social media!

This week is “Stand Up Awareness Week” set up by they have worked with the school education board to help post-primary schools to be educated on lgbtqia+ rights, and help prevent Homophobia, Biphobia and transphobia all around Ireland. This will make Ireland a safer and better place. Many of our members on Mayo Comhairle Na nÓg helped there schools set up activities, and fundraisers such as bake sales to donate to lgbt charities. Comhairle is a proud lgbt friendly place and we hope that this week will really give everyone the chance to be educated on how to be a strong ali of the community!
