Zurich - An IRGT Adoption Story

Meet Zurich, a retired racing greyhound, and her owner Aisling from Co. Louth. We travelled to meet the duo and to share a glimpse into their lives, and hear their Irish Retired Greyhound Trust adoption story.

Aisling has taken part in shows for the last 20 years and once Zurich retired from her racing career, Aisling asked her brother if she could bring her along to shows and from there a star was born, or re-born that should be!

Zurich has enjoyed an impressive journey, not only achieving success on the track but also going on to build a remarkable career in the show ring at Irish Kennel Club events across the country. Her achievements include qualifying for the prestigious Crufts competition.

The IRGT had the best weekend at Dogitude - including Ellie! 🫶

We followed Ellie and her friends as they got up to all kinds of adventures over the weekend. There was so much to see and do! 🤩

We still can't believe just how beautiful the weather was, and we made sure Ellie and Co. had plenty of cool water, room to stretch out in the shade and some breaks in the van throughout the day 😊

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to meet us! We had so much fun chatting to everyone and showing what wonderful pets Greyhounds make. 🥹❤️

The IRGT heads to Kilkenny tonight for the official opening of their newly refurbished Stadium! 😊

We're very excited to attend, especially Una, who is a regular at the track with her beloved retired Greyhound Lily, showing everyone what excellent pets Greyhound make! 🥰🐾

Be sure to come say hi to the IRGT team and our super volunteers, and for all the kids, make sure to enter our colouring competition for the chance to win a very cool prize! 🤩

The IRGT is going to Dogitude this weekend! 🥳⭐

We'll have our stand with some fun merch, freebies, and time for a chat, and of course plenty of gorgeous Greys available for cuddles! We can't wait to show and tell everyone what fantastic pets they make❤️🐾

Happy everyone! This month's star is... the beautiful Mick! 🌟

Mick found his forever home in Clermont, Florida, USA, and it's safe to say he is loving the retired life! We are delighted to hear he has settled in so well with his 4 legged siblings! 🐾🫶

Our IRGT Ambassadog Goldie, and Ambassador Chris, were very special guests at the Fundraising Information Evening hosted by Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium last Friday night! 🫶🐾

Goldie was fantastic and loved meeting everyone, including the wonderful team at Curraheen Park and of course Davy Russell! 🤩

Happy everyone! We hope you all had a fur-tastic week! 🥰🐾

This Friday, we report some fun news. On Monday, our foster mum Fionnuala was on hand at the Newtown Dog Show to judge, amongst other classes, the very competitive Greyhound class!

Winner of the Greyhound Class and Reserve Champ overall was Rocky, aka Magical Titan! What an apt name that is - he is an absolute stunner 🤩

It was a brialliant event, with a huge turnout and the friendliest people. What a lovely way to spend the bank holiday in the sunshine! ☀️

Our IRGT Ambassadog Smokey, and our Ambassador Eddie, were very special guests at Kilcohan Park Stadium last Saturday! 🤩🐾

Smokey did a fantastic job and throughly enjoyed every second of meeting and greeting. He got plenty of attention and cuddles and showed everyone that greyhounds really do make Greyt pets! ❤️
