This category has a top prize of€10,000 with additional runner up prizes to be announced at a later date!!!
2026 Limerick Going for Gold Radio campaign schedule is as follows:
06/08/26 – launch of the radio campaign and an interview with last year’s winners – Kilmallock Tidy Towns, who will share their insights, achievements and overall experience
06 - 13/08/25 – Voting for Going for Gold 2026 will open on the 6th of August at noon – you can start to vote for your favourite group then!
The public will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred group by:

THERE IS NO COST TO THE VOTER
Only one vote from each voter/group
Voting starts on the 6th of August at 12 noon and finishes on the 13th of August at 12 noon .Do not vote before or after this time as votes won’t be counted
13/08/2026– voting will conclude!! Also, an interview with Pauline McDonogh, Circular Economy Co Ordinator, Southern Regional Waste Management will be broadcasted
14/08/2026 -number of groups will be shortlisted and announced
20/08/2026 – video highlighting the work shortlisted groups have done and groups interviews will be broadcasted on Live 95 radio
28/08/2026 – Interview with Limerick City & County Council Biodiversity Officer focusing on what Tidy Town groups, Community Groups can do to support biodiversity, hedging maintenance, summer migrants (Swift Swallows Sand Martins and House Martins) / pollinators (bees, butterflies, etc) and baths
03/09/2026 – Interview with Limerick City & County Council Executive Landscape Architect focusing on correct tree planting, what type of trees would be appropriate in what area and when should we plant trees plus proper hedging maintenance
10/09/2026– Wild card communities will be selected by the Going for Gold Judging Panel and overview of the adjudication process will be discussed

By entering the Limerick Going for Gold Environment Improvement Grant earlier this year, you entered the Limerick Going for Gold Competition.
Limerick Going for Gold 2026 Final Ceremonytakes place in the Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerickon the evening of Thursday 22nd October 2026. Invitations will follow closer to the event date.
