Heading to the Food Fayre and Cattle Drive too?

Those with a 9.30am shuttle bus ticket from Lisdoonvarna or Ballyvaughan can be dropped off at the concert venue. A further shuttle will be available afterwards to bring ticket holders the short distance to the Food Fayre and Cattle Drive starting point.

Parking will also be available for those travelling by car.

A wonderful way to experience the music, culture and traditions of the Burren.

12pm - Burren Food Fayre, Fanore
A celebration of taste, tradition, and community, the Burren Food Fayre brings together local chefs, farmers, and food lovers for a weekend of discovery.

2pm - Community Cattle Drive, Fanore
Join the iconic Winterage Cattle Drive as a local farming family brings its cattle to their winterage pastures. The walk is approximately 5.7km return.

4pm - Farming for Nature Panel Discussion, Lisdoonvarna
This panel discussion explores the roles of female farmers in caring for the environment and shaping more sustainable approaches to farming. Drawing on research from Professor Maura Farrell, the discussion will connect research insights with the lived experiences of three female farmers: Pippa Hackett, Laura McGoran, and Siobhán Hubbard. Panellists will explore how they approach nature-friendly farming on their own farms, as well as the wider care of land and rural communities. This panel will offer a space to consider what women’s experiences can contribute to the future of environmentally friendly farming in Ireland and beyond.

From the local to the global: celebrating our farmers and their landscapes

The UN has declared 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) in order to raise awareness of, and support for, rangelands and pastoralists all over the world.

Covering about half the world's land, rangelands are home to unique biodiversity and pastoral communities whose livelihoods depend on them. The Burren is one such example - rich in biodiversity, archaeology, cultural heritage, and community.

Pastoralists raise animals, contribute to food security, and hold diverse cultural heritage and local and indigenous knowledge, preserving ecosystems across the world. The Burren’s farmers, who have grazed this landscape for almost six thousand years, are a classic example of this.

To celebrate this special year, Burrenbeo Trust will, as part of its annual Burren Winterage Weekend (which shines an annual spotlight on the importance of our pastoral heritage) host a day-long event to discuss transhumance traditions in Europe and share stories of efforts to conserve some of these threatened landscapes by working with local farmers.

The next Hare's Corner Clinic 'Community Groups and Woodland Creation' is on Monday 12 October at 8pm.

Join us and our guest speaker Santiago Rial, Director of Gaelic Woodlands Project to hear how community groups can go about creating woodlands and restoring nature in their neighbourhoods. Gaelic Woodlands Project is a 100% volunteering charity engaged in creating woodlands and protecting woodlands from invasive species. In May 2025, they planted their first native woodland in Co. Mayo by planting 9,000 native trees on a 12-acre farm, funded exclusively through donations, fundraisers and community support.

The Hare’s Corner Clinics are monthly online sessions on the second Monday of each month that focus on practical tips and Q&A on creating and maintaining habitats for nature. Family-Friendly Walk and Archaeological Site Visit with Elaine Lynch
Join Field Monument Advisor Elaine Lynch for a family-friendly walk to the shell midden excavation site at Fanore Beach, which was excavated between 2009 and 2013. Field Monument Advisor Programme Co. Clare

Making Soil Portraits through Chromatography with Eileen Hutton
Artist and educator Eileen Hutton will facilitate a workshop on soil chromatography. This alternative photography process creates a ‘soil portrait’ on light sensitive filter paper that is both formally beautiful and a useful way to assess the soil for organic matter, biological diversity, minerals and humus.

An evening of traditional music at the beautiful O'Donohue's Pub. From 9pm until late. No booking required.

There are also two different community cattle drives this year, each led by a different farmer from Fanore. We are also absolutely delighted to have the Burren Food Fayre taking place before the Cattle Drive on both days this year! Book a free shuttle bus from Ballyvaughan or Lisdoonvarna!

The Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers enjoyed a rewarding morning of hands-on conservation work recently, collecting guelder rose, purging buckthorn and alder buckthorn from beautiful locations in the Burren. Under the guidance of forester Bernard Carey and working with NPWS permission while following ENSCONET best-practice guidelines, the team had an excellent harvest.

This effort is part of the Burren Ark Project, Burrenbeo’s initiative dedicated to increasing the availability of locally sourced native trees and shrubs. The seeds were transported to Bernard’s nursery, where they will be grown into saplings for future planting through The Hare’s Corner Project.
