- Provide adults with intellectual disabilities meaningful employment.
- Drive participation in the deposit return scheme.
- Actively play a role in protecting our environment

by reducing litter and waste.
- Offer businesses a sustainable and practical solution for returning their cans and bottles.
- Advocate for an inclusive society.
- Further benefit communities by donating any excess funds raised to local charities and causes. We cannot do this without the support of local businesses. If you are interested in registering as a supporter, please visit our website wecan.ie.

To mark World Autism Awareness Day, we are recognising the importance of inclusive employment for people with autism and intellectual disabilities and spotlighting the work of WeCan ambassadors Jamie, Ross and Adam 🩵

Each week they work with businesses across Kilkenny collecting returnable bottles and cans through Ireland’s Deposit Re-turn Scheme, supporting organisations with their recycling and helping reduce waste in the local community. This is meaningful, paid work that makes a practical difference every day for businesses, for the environment and for the wider community 🌎

WeCan is a not- for-profit initiative launched by CluneTech in partnership with SOS Kilkenny, creating opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities to take part in working life through real roles with real responsibility.

Initiatives like WeCan show what can happen when local partnerships create opportunities that support businesses, strengthen communities and make working life more accessible to more people.

Today is a chance to recognise the value of opportunity, contribution, and participation in working life and to celebrate what becomes possible when space is made for everyone to take part 🚀

If you're a business or organisation in Kilkenny who would like support with collecting your returnable bottles and cans and reaching your ESG goals, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch with us via email ➡️ [email protected]

For our latest WeCan Supporter Spotlight, we’re shining a light on Meubles - Home of Inspiration, one of Ireland’s leading home and lifestyle retailers, whose commitment to community and sustainability reflects what WeCan is all about 🧡

"WeCan is such a well-organized initiative - no stone has been left unturned. It’s very progressive and has made it so easy for us to take part. I think other organizations will really see the benefit of getting involved.” - Dara O’Reilly Daly, Meubles.

Last week, we were delighted to join a panel discussion at the AIPCO September Educational Event Inclusive Impact: Shaping the Future of Business Events through EDI at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin 🙌

Our Project Lead John McCarthy joined the Lived Experience Panel Discussion alongside Mariam Asiyanbi from Horse Racing Ireland Division and Laura O'Donovan (She/Her) from the Irish Centre for Diversity.

John shared the story of WeCan, a CluneTech initiative and the impact it has had on his son Adam and our WeCan ambassadors, and spoke about how we can all play a part in creating more inclusive environments in the events and hospitality industry as well as in our wider communities.

The day was full of inspiring speakers and honest conversations. It was a real reminder that inclusion is built on listening to lived experiences in the moment and taking action so that everyone feels like they belong.

We left with new connections, fresh ideas and even more determination to keep inclusion at the heart of everything we do 🧡

Thank you AIPCO - Association of Irish Professional Conference Organisers and Fintua for this opportunity to continue sharing our story 🚀

At WeCan, we’re proud to show how much can be achieved through community and collective action 🧡

On this International Day of Charity, we’re not only celebrating the impact WeCan has already made in Kilkenny, but also some of the recent recognition we have received.

Earlier this quarter, our Project Lead John McCarthy was invited by TransferMate ’s Hayleigh Aherne and Shauna Stanley to share WeCan’s journey so far, the difference we're making in our community, and the role of our exclusive partnership with SOS Kilkenny in helping WeCan accelerate to new heights in 2025.

We’ve loved every moment of growing our network of wonderful businesses in Kilkenny and are beyond excited to see what the future holds 🙌

A big thank you to Hayleigh and Shauna for shining a spotlight on WeCan and giving us the opportunity to share our story 💙
