Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some helpful information with the group.

Dr Mariah Donnelly is a Solicitor practising at Michael Kelleher Solicitors, based on James Street in Dublin 8. She is currently expanding her work in the area of education and disability law, with a focus on supporting individuals and families to better understand legal processes and their rights—especially given how complex and challenging this area can be for parents.

They are very aware of the important advocacy work being done by groups like Involve Autism, particularly around school access and inclusion.

They regularly assist with:
• School placements and securing appropriate supports
• Assessment of Need (AON) processes and related issues
• Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA)
• Understanding and navigating relevant legal frameworks

They have kindly offered to support families connected with groups like ours where legal input may be helpful. They are also open to providing a free, informal drop-in clinic or a short information session/talk (in person or online) to answer general questions from parents.

Please note this would be for general information only, and individuals would be advised to seek specific legal advice where needed.

If this sounds useful, you can contact Dr Donnelly directly on +353 83 877 4808.

Might be a great resource for some families here.

My son is now 14 years old. He has been waiting for an Assessment of Need since 2017 to 2025 — and we are still waiting on services.

Next week, we are bringing his case, along with many others, to the European Parliament in Brussels. No child should have to wait years for the support they need.

I’m asking for your support. Please take a moment to sign and share this petition:

Every child deserves the right to thrive — not to be overlooked or forgotten.

Tonight, the Dáil will debate a Sinn Féin motion on the Cost of Disability - an issue that directly affects thousands of Autistic people and families across Ireland.

While AsIAm welcomes the opportunity to address this issue, Budget 2026 once again failed to deliver a long-promised Cost of Disability Payment or the broader reforms needed to tackle disability-related poverty.

As our recent Budget 2026 Explainer sets out, many Autistic and Disabled people still face some of the highest living costs and longest waiting lists in the State.

Read the Budget Explainer here and see what we asked for and what was delivered: https://asiam.ie/policy-news/asiam-explainer-on-budget-2026
