Diarmuid, our resident donkey, reminding you that there are only three days left to get tickets for our Back to School Raffle!

Our large herd of dogs were wondering on this INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY 💜💜 could you spare a few euro to our PayPal pawleaaaaase 🎊🎊 we always need food, wormers, new bedding (due to a few 'chewers' 🧐 you know who you are, Gigi !) vet care, ongoing meds etc etc etc .. It would benefit our many doggies and other rescues hugely ..

RAFFLE NEWS!

Well, we’ve had some rain but not enough as yet to allow grass growth. We have almost doubled our target amount in our fundraising raffle which we are running to buy hay for our animals as we have no grass. It looks as if we will have to feed hay from now on, even if some grass manages to grow.
The other problem with having no grass to graze is that the ground becomes either dusty or muddy, which means that we will have to reseed parts of our fields, and keep the animals off the land!
Anyway, we are most grateful to everyone who has bought tickets for our raffle so far. Tickets are available until 6pm on Monday 31st August. Dare we hope we can get to 2k€? Always optimistic! ‼️

RAFFLE NEWS!

34 amazing people have bought tickets for our Back to School Raffle, and we are so grateful for their kindness! We have 60,000 + followers, if a few more would support the raffle, we might just get through this fodder crisis!

The horses, ponies, donkey, goats and sheep are going through the hay we had to buy this week at top speed! They are used to having the late summer grass, but with the prolonged dry spell, no grass has grown for weeks, so they are hungry! We will have to rest the fields now for at least three weeks, to let the new growth come through, so we'll be ordering more hay tomorrow to keep them going until the grass is ready.

We are now expecting that we will need twice our original target amount, so please, please, please, keep buying tickets! You will find the link in the comments.

And please share to everyone you know. This unexpected expense has played havoc with our (limited) budget, so any help with this is so, so welcome.

The goats are happy! They love hay!

Don't forget to buy tickets for our Back to School Raffle! We will post the link in comments below, as posting it in the body of the post does not seem to be reaching many people.

Our first delivery of hay for our rescue horses, ponies, donkey, sheep and goats arrives today - more than two months earlier than usual, as there is no grass left in our fields due to lack of rain. We got very excited yesterday when a few drops fell, but sadly, that's all it was. . . a few drops.

We'll be moaning about the wet and mud in a few weeks time, no doubt, but we are deeply worried that we will be feeding hay for 8 or 9 months this year, instead of the usual 5 or 6. You can see from the photo just how bare of grass our fields are - this goat is hopeful that we'll fill the bucket with feed!

Happy Sunday, everyone!
We are here wondering how to do a rain dance and if it will work to bring some badly needed moisture to our brown, bare fields!
It looks like we are going to have to start feeding hay to our rescue horses, ponies, donkey, sheep and goats in AUGUST! We usually don't start haying until November or October at the earliest, but our first delivery will be arriving on Tuesday.

So, we are going to run a quick raffle to try and raise some funds to pay for it! We know we're always asking you, our wonderful supporters, to help us, but this time we thought we'd give some of you a chance to win a Dunnes Stores Gift Card to help you with those back to school expenses.
