It's hot out there! Please share our lifesaving advice to help us keep people safe 📢

With many enjoying the sun, we are asking you to remember one thing if you're by the water:

- Tilt your head back with your ears submerged

- Relax and try to breathe normally

- Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat

- It’s OK if your legs sink, we all float differently

- Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety.

Although we suspect all the swimmers at Balscadden Bay Beach know this, the Friends of Balscadden Beach would like to remind all beach users that there is no Fingal County Council litter collection on the beach. Therefore please use the litter bin opposite the gate! We do leave a bin bag on the beach for people to put discarded litter in, but please avoid using it if possible.

Fingal County Council have given the copied below update on the improvement works to the access steps to Balscadden Beach. The works were detailed and specified by a consultant team, and a construction tender was published on the 24th March, 2026. This tender closes on the 27th April, 2026.

Provided a successful outcome of the tender process, a contractor will be appointed before Summer 2026.

The exact duration of construction will be determined by the winning contractor and will be specified in their tender. However, we estimate the construction stage will take around 13 weeks, once they have mobilised to site.

It won’t be possible to allow public access to the site during the construction period, including weekends, for contractual and Health and Safety reasons.

The works are scheduled to commence in September 2026, outside of the busy summer period. Friends of Balscadden Beach
