On behalf of myself and my fellow Contact Studios' Artists and Alumni, and my colleagues in Gallery Interlude, I would like to offer our sincerest condolences to The family and friends of Councillor Jerry O'Dea.
Time and again, as a good neighbour and friend to us in our Mulgrave St premises, Jerry intervened and lobbied on our behalf to maintain our position on the grounds of St. Joseph's Hospital, and latterly in Cahill May Roberts.
Less known is the fact that ever since he maintained his support even as recently as a couple of weeks ago, sending funding information on.
He was a true Gentleman, a man of his word, and he welcomed myself and my colleagues in to his premises often on Mulgrave St, whether it be lads looking for a game of pool, a cup of tea, or sage advice.
I often had a chat with him when I would happen to meet on the way to the studio, walking up the street, or at a civic do.
He was a man of humour, and I and many others will miss his smile, laugh and warmth.
Go mbeidh tú ar dheis Dé,
RIP mo Chara,
Carl Doran, on behalf of Contact Studios and Gallery Interlude.
