🔌 Keeping Carnmore Community Centre Prepared! 💪

A huge thank you to Galway County Council’s Community Department for their continued support and funding towards the installation of a Manual Changeover Switch at Carnmore Community Centre. 🙌

This important upgrade now allows the Community Centre to safely connect and operate a generator when required, helping to ensure the facility can continue to provide essential services to our community during emergency situations or unexpected power outages.

It’s another valuable investment in the resilience, safety and future of our Community Centre. ❤️

We really appreciate the support from Galway County Council Community Department and their commitment to helping community facilities like ours improve and develop.

Local Sports Plan Consultation
Have Your Say: Help Shape the Future of Sport and Physical Activity in County Galway

Galway County Council, in partnership with Galway Local Sports Partnership, is developing a new Local Sports and Physical Activity Plan and wants to hear from you.

The plan will provide a long-term vision for creating "An Active, Vibrant, Healthy County Galway for All", helping to improve opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active, participate in sport, and enjoy healthier lifestyles.

Residents, community groups, sports clubs, schools, volunteers, young people, older adults, and people with disabilities are encouraged to share their views. Your feedback will help identify local priorities, address challenges, and shape future investment in facilities, programmes, and community initiatives across the county.

The consultation, supported by S3 Solutions, includes online surveys and a series of public consultation events taking place across County Galway.

By taking part, you can help create a more active, inclusive, and connected Galway where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.

We’re delighted to see our new outdoor filtered water refill station now installed at Carnmore Community Centre! 🌿💦

A huge thank you to Galway County Council and Galway Rural Development CLG for providing the funding that made this fantastic addition to our community centre possible.

The new station, installed by Hydroclear Hydration Solutions, will provide a convenient and sustainable way for our community and visitors to refill their water bottles while using our facilities. ♻️

It’s another small but important step towards making Carnmore Community Centre a more sustainable, accessible and welcoming facility for everyone.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Galway County Council – Rural & Community Development for their generous support through the Local Enhancement Programme Grant Scheme 2026 🙏

This capital funding has enabled Carnmore Community Centre to install our second set of new emergency doors, an important upgrade that enhances safety, accessibility and compliance for all who use our facilities 🚪✅

Funding like this plays a vital role in helping community groups carry out essential repairs and improvements and to continue providing safe, welcoming spaces for community use.

Bhí an ócáid chomh taitneamhach ag ionad CLG an Chairn Mhóir gur shocraigh na rannpháirtithe teacht le chéile gach Céadaoin an mhí seo ag 7.30pm le haghaidh siúlóid uair an chloig agus deis a ár dteanga dhúchais a labhairt.
Is é an smaoineamh atá taobh thiar den ‘Siúlach Scéalach’ ná gur féidir le daoine teacht le chéile agus labhairt le chéile i nGaeilge agus iad ag siúl agus iad ag siúl ar feadh uair an chloig. Ní caitifidh daoine a bheith líofa le bheith páirteach.

Well done to the Gaeilgeoirs who turned out in the pouring rain last Wednesday evening when our ‘Siúlach Scéalach’ moved to the Carnmore hurling club for the first time. Last week was such a success we've decided to make it a weekly event in Carnmore for the month of June - so we'll be there on the 10th, 17th, and 24th!

The ‘Siúlach Scéalach’ is going on the road!
For a few weeks now, we have been meeting up informally to walk and talk ‘as Gaeilge’ for an hour. It’s a great way of getting some fresh air, meeting up with people, and practicing whatever amount of Irish you have.
This week we are going on the road!
We are moving to the Carnmore GAA grounds on the Monivea Road for a relaxing one hour stroll and a chance to speak our native language.
The idea behind the ‘Siúlach Scéalach’ is that people can relax and talk to one another in our native language while exercising.
All you have to do is turn up at the Carnmore GAA grounds and 7.30pm this Wednesday, June 3, for a walk and a chat!
