The Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS) is a newly designated research institute for the applied social sciences at NUI Galway.

The Institute for Lifecourse and Society is a rare example of an interdisciplinary university research hub designed specifically to have a positive impact on policy and practice in society. Supported by The Atlantic Philanthropies, it works in partnership with a diverse range
of communities towards the development of positive social change and policy development from cradle to grave. It builds on

its already strong record in influencing domestic, regional and international policy and practice affecting a variety of populations including children and families, learners, and disabled and older persons.

SCIENCE ON SCREEN
Information Day for Filmmakers.

Where: Lifecourse Institute, Newcastle Road, Dangan, NUI Galway
When: Saturday 27th February
Time: 10am - 1pm

The Science on Screen project will 100% fund two 26 minute science films with a budget of €35,000.00 each. These two TV half hour programmes will be based around areas of research currently underway in CÚRAM.

An Tánaiste will today launch the new Institute for Lifecourse and Society at NUI Galway.

The Institute is dedicated to supporting applied research that informs policy development and practice to make a positive difference to people’s lives

The Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton T.D. will officially launch the Institute for Lifecourse and Society today (11 November 2015) at NUI Galway. The Institute is dedicated to supporting applied research that informs policy development and practice to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
The Institute for Lifecourse and Society represents an €9m investment comprising significant philanthropic contributions from The Atlantic Philanthropies and Galway University Foundation in a rare example of an interdisciplinary research hub designed to examine and reimagine important social issues, especially for vulnerable populations.

WELCOME TO THE INSTITUTE FOR LIFECOURSE AND SOCIETY

The Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS) is a newly designated research institute for the applied social sciences at NUI Galway. The Institute supports applied research that informs policy development and practice to make a positive difference to people’s lives. ILAS brings together existing work in relation to targeted populations, such as older persons, children and families, and persons with disabilities into one domain of research, teaching and policy. The core function of the Institute is the pursuit of interdisciplinary research in the social sciences by creatively integrating the rich and diverse intellectual resources from within the University and beyond.
