NUI Galway Students for Sensible Drug Policy SSDP WAS a NUI Galway society that promotes awareness of drug issues and drug policy which is evidenc The aims of the Society shall be:
1.

Students for Sensible Drug Policy is an international network of students campaigning for evidence-based, humane and sensible drug laws as acknowledged with special consultative status within the United Nations. The Society neither condemns nor condones drug use; rather we seek to reduce the harmful consequences associated with drug use. To lobby for and promote the awareness of drug policy and la

w reform issues, including human rights and civil rights issues.

2. To build the leadership skills of NUIG students through promoting civic participation and providing advocacy training.

3. To involve NUIG students with National and International campaigns and programs that promotes sensible drug policies.

4. To foster the debate of viable alternatives to existing drug policies, such as the harm reductionist approach.

5. To organise and co-ordinate campaigns and social events.

6. To ensure NUIG student participation in upcoming European drug reform committees as well as taking part in global discussions and events; such as the United Nations annual Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the International Drug Policy Consortium and Harm Reduction International.

7. To assist with NUIG bodies in drug campaigns and initiatives.
