Corlann Ireland Corlann is the new name for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.

We provide services to more than 6,000 people each year who have an intellectual disability, including those who also have autism. We are an inclusive, progressive organisation committed to the people we support and their right to lead full and valued lives as equal citizens. Inspired by the ethos of the Brother of Charity we promote the values of dignity and respect for each person.

Galway Advocacy Council and Reidhlean Centre in Athenry are encouraging everyone to get involved in this year’s 2026 Watersports Inclusion Games which takes place on July 11th/12th in Galway. Last year, people supported by Reidhlean Centre in Athenry attended this event in Dublin they had great fun. Here are the photos to prove it! The Watersports Inclusion Games is an award-winning, free, multi-watersport event welcoming people of all abilities and disabilities including physical, intellectual, sensory and learning differences and anyone who experiences barriers to mainstream sport. Open to all ages, participants, along with family and friends, can try an exciting range of activities including sailing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, powerboating, dragon boating, snorkelling, windsurfing and more. No experience is necessary, and all activities, equipment and support are provided. Our West Services recently celebrated the Cumas Gallery Grand Opening and Studio C Open Day. A group exhibition entitled 'New Horizons' was commissioned for the Eastside Arts Festival 2026 and featured artists Simon Chuwa, Trevor Collins, Charles Cooley Jnr, Gerry Fahy and Clement Moylan with additional pieces by Edmund Henry and Michael Heffernan. Over 70 people attended the event, including Mary Lou McDonald - Sinn Féin, Mairéad Farrell - Sinn Féin and Eamon Loughrey, Director of Services for Corlann West. Resident poet Dan Doherty was also in attendance as were musicians 'The Scculywhags', who promoted their new CD 'Panning for Gold'. Studio C is an art studio for adults with Intellectual Disability based in Ballybane, Galway City, which focuses on supporting individuals to develop their creative potential. Cumas Gallery will display, curate and sell the artwork of creative individuals supported by Corlann.

Our National Advocacy Council and National Leadership Team acknowledged and thanked the outgoing National Advocacy Chairperson Claire Nagle at their meeting last week. Michael Hennessey, CEO and Director of Services for Corlann Clare, Martina Rynne spoke about Claire's incredible dedication and positive leadership throughout her term. The National Advocacy Council are pleased to announce that Pat Flaherty (Corlann West) has been voted in as the new National Advocacy Chairperson and Helen O'Regan (Corlann Limerick) as the newly elected National Advocacy Vice Chairperson.
