📻 TUNE IN to News at One on Radio 1 tomorrow (Tuesday) for a feature on Ballygar 📻

🎙️ A big thank you to Sallyanne for spending the morning with us in Ballygar today.

Sallyanne is recording a feature for RTÉ Radio 1 exploring the importance of access to cash services in rural towns and communities across Ireland.

She met with a number of local businesses and members of the community to hear first-hand why cash services remain such an essential part of everyday life. From supporting local businesses to ensuring older people and those who rely on cash aren’t left behind, the conversations highlighted just how important these services continue to be.

We are incredibly fortunate in Ballygar to have access to cash through Ballygar Post Office, the Centra ATM, and, more recently, the Athenry Credit Union 24/7 ATM. These services play a vital role in keeping our community connected and our local economy thriving.

Their importance is further reinforced by the new legislation, coming into effect from 1st July, which aims to ensure people have access to cash services within 10km of their home.

As another week comes to a close in Ballygar, it’s only fitting that we take a moment to acknowledge and thank the team at Athenry Credit Union for their continued commitment to our community.

When Bank of Ireland closed its doors in Ballygar in 2021, our town lost an important service that many people relied upon. Through all of the changes since then, Athenry Credit Union has remained firmly committed to Ballygar, continuing to provide essential financial services and support to local people.

Over the years, Athenry Credit Union has been a tremendous supporter of our community, sponsoring local organisations, investing through their Community Fund, and consistently backing initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Since the formation of the Ballygar Regeneration Group, we have experienced nothing but positivity, encouragement, and support from the team at Athenry Credit Union. They have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to Ballygar and its future.

We are especially delighted to welcome the installation of the new ATM in Ballygar - a much needed service for our town and a significant investment by Athenry Credit Union in the local community. This facility will make everyday banking more convenient for residents, businesses, and visitors alike, while helping to ensure Ballygar remains a vibrant and sustainable place to live and work.

We’re delighted with the huge level of interest and support for our Autism Friendly Town Public Information Meeting. Because of the fantastic response, the event will now take place in the Mattie McDonagh Centre, Ballygar (F42 V211) this Thursday at 8pm.
