✨ An Exciting Step Forward for Ballygar! ✨

Ballygar Regeneration Group would like to wish everyone involved in the Ballygar Autism Friendly Town Project the very best of luck as they prepare for their official launch! 👏❤️

We are absolutely delighted to be supporting this fantastic initiative and are really looking forward to playing our part as an Autism Friendly Champion in our community.

🌟 This is one night not to be missed! 🌟

We are especially delighted to hear that Adam Harris of AsIAm, along with some very special guests, will be leading the evening. What a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, learn more about the project and discover how we can all play a part in making Ballygar a more welcoming, understanding and inclusive place for everyone.

This marks an exciting step towards starting our journey to making Ballygar a more welcoming, inclusive and accessible town for autistic people and their families.

We would love for our community to join us on the night, show your support and help us celebrate this important milestone. Everyone is welcome.

We also want to make sure that autistic people feel comfortable taking part in a way that works for them. There is no expectation to participate in any particular way — your comfort and needs matter.

We’re really looking forward to sharing this evening with you.

We’re proud to introduce Ballygar Autism Friendly Town, a community-led project in partnership with AsIAm, working to make Ballygar a more inclusive and welcoming place for autistic people.

Over the next three years, we’ll be working alongside local businesses, organisations and the wider community towards achieving Autism Friendly Town status — recognising the work being done to create a community where everyone can feel comfortable, accepted and included.

We’re committed to promoting inclusivity, diversity and equality across all aspects of life in Ballygar.

📻 TUNE IN to News at One on Radio 1 tomorrow (Tuesday) for a feature on Ballygar 📻

🎙️ A big thank you to Sallyanne for spending the morning with us in Ballygar today.

Sallyanne is recording a feature for RTÉ Radio 1 exploring the importance of access to cash services in rural towns and communities across Ireland.

She met with a number of local businesses and members of the community to hear first-hand why cash services remain such an essential part of everyday life. From supporting local businesses to ensuring older people and those who rely on cash aren’t left behind, the conversations highlighted just how important these services continue to be.

We are incredibly fortunate in Ballygar to have access to cash through Ballygar Post Office, the Centra ATM, and, more recently, the Athenry Credit Union 24/7 ATM. These services play a vital role in keeping our community connected and our local economy thriving.

Their importance is further reinforced by the new legislation, coming into effect from 1st July, which aims to ensure people have access to cash services within 10km of their home.

As another week comes to a close in Ballygar, it’s only fitting that we take a moment to acknowledge and thank the team at Athenry Credit Union for their continued commitment to our community.

When Bank of Ireland closed its doors in Ballygar in 2021, our town lost an important service that many people relied upon. Through all of the changes since then, Athenry Credit Union has remained firmly committed to Ballygar, continuing to provide essential financial services and support to local people.

Over the years, Athenry Credit Union has been a tremendous supporter of our community, sponsoring local organisations, investing through their Community Fund, and consistently backing initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Since the formation of the Ballygar Regeneration Group, we have experienced nothing but positivity, encouragement, and support from the team at Athenry Credit Union. They have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to Ballygar and its future.

We are especially delighted to welcome the installation of the new ATM in Ballygar - a much needed service for our town and a significant investment by Athenry Credit Union in the local community. This facility will make everyday banking more convenient for residents, businesses, and visitors alike, while helping to ensure Ballygar remains a vibrant and sustainable place to live and work.

With 40+ people attending and 19 amazing volunteers already signed up to help support a future Ballygar club, the community spirit in the room was incredible 💙
