CARI provides child-centred therapy for children and adolescents and support for their parents, carers and families who have been affected by the issues of child sexual abuse. CARI also provides therapy to children, up to (and including) twelve year olds, who present with sexualised behaviours. Over the years, CARI opened two full-time centres in Dublin and Limerick and has developed six strands o
f specialist service. CARI’s National Lo-Call Helpline (1890 92 45 67) is manned by trained operators and is available Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm. CARI’s Helpline is accessed nationally by over 1200 users per year, offering advice, information and support. CARI offers callers Crisis Appointments to support parents and carers coping with the shock of a disclosure and face- to-face Advice Appointments for adults with child protection concerns. CARI provides post assessment child therapy for three to eighteen year olds whose lives have been disrupted by experiences, exposures to, or allegations of sexual violence and to help them recover from their abuse experience. CARI also delivers treatment for children up to the age of 12 who present with sexualized behaviours. CARI offer Parental Support for parents and carers (non-abusing family members). CARI also provides Training and Prevention in the area of Child Sexual Abuse. CARI delivers professional development services (training, supervision and consultation) to organisations, community groups, agencies and professionals on issues relating to child sexual abuse. In recent years, CARI has provided a Child Accompaniment and Support Service (CASS) for child witnesses, funded from the Commission for the Support of Victims of Crime: this includes Forensic Accompaniment and Garda accompaniment when making a statement.
