This includes at least 7 windfarms currently planned between Spa Hill and Ballyouskill. Rural Ireland and the Environment will never recover and all for nothing but money for Multi Nationals that the government have rolled out the red carpet for💰💰💰 An endevour so lucrative for these companies that it leaves us ordinary people paying the highest electricity prices in europe. Powering data centre after data centre at the benefit of yet more Multi Nationals. Just look at that National Map😭😭 Its very simple, this goverment cares more about the finances of big tech than it does about the people of this country. Our goverment and every TD that has failed to prioritise it's citizens health by delaying proper regulations for over a decade in favour of supporting these lobbyists should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

🚨 LOOK AT THIS MAP 🚨
Every marker represents an existing or proposed wind farm in Ireland- and this isn't even the full picture... 🤯

⚠️ In 2019, draft Wind Energy Development Guidelines were published which included stronger noise protections for communities, which would have been consistent with the WHO Environmental Noise Guidelines.(2018)

⚠️ In 2021, Eamon Ryan wrote to Darragh O'Brien seeking a move away from that approach after a Government-commissioned spatial study found that WHO 2018 would significantly reduce the amount of land available for wind farm development - making 2030 onshore wind targets impossible to achieve.

The guidelines were reopened.

Then, in March this year, Micheál Martin stated that publishing the long-awaited guidelines would restrict onshore wind development.

That tells you everything.

❓❓ So the HEALTH of rural Ireland is expected to be sacrificed in order to meet a 2030 onshore wind target?

Really?

Look at this map again.

If Micheál Martin and Darragh O'Brien get their way, this is only the beginning.

☘️ The Ireland we know today could be transformed into an industrial energy landscape within a generation.

⛔ Rural communities should not be sacrificed to facilitate an endless rollout of wind farms across Ireland.

Sean Fleming TD here voicing concerns that many in the community share. The EIAR report submitted by the company appears to contain numerous copy-and-paste errors and inaccuracies in their testing. In my view, it raises real questions about the level of due diligence carried out in relation to our area.

Sean Fleming, who also chairs the Oireachtas Infrastructure Committee, is revoicing his opposition to Seskin Wind Farm.

Good afternoon everyone,

As many of you are probably aware, An Coimisiún Pleanála have issued a substantial Further Information Request to MKO, planners acting on behalf of the proposed Seskin Renewables Windfarm development.

The request is extensive and wide-ranging, with the company now required to respond by 18th September 2026. Anyone who made an observation or submission to ACP should have received correspondence by registered post this week. If anyone has not yet seen the documentation, please message us directly and we will forward a copy.

As can be seen from the correspondence, ACP have raised a number of significant concerns regarding the proposed development. Many of these concerns align with the reasons for refusal previously outlined by the County Council, as well as issues highlighted in the submission made by our community group, NoToSeskinWindfarm.

It is likely that the developer will now need to carry out additional surveys and testing within the area in advance of the September deadline. We would encourage all members of the community to carefully consider any requests for access to private property for the purposes of surveys, testing, monitoring, or related works.

It is important to remember that representatives acting on behalf of the company cannot enter private property without the express permission of the landowner.

As always, we encourage residents and landowners to fully inform themselves and consider the wider implications for the area before agreeing to any such requests.

We will also shortly begin fundraising activities should further expert input or representation become necessary during this process. We will keep the community updated as matters progress.

Thank you for your continued support.

It’s absolutely outrageous that wind energy giants Orsted have prevented a Tipperary woman from building a family home. They appealed a planning permission, granted by Tipperary County Council to Breda Campion to build a family home in her local area, to An Coimisiún Pleanála.

I intend to speak on this in the Dáil!

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD)
Today, 9 May 2026, is World Migratory Bird Day — a day to recognise the incredible journeys made by migratory birds and the need to protect the habitats they depend on.

The below video features our Winter Migratory Whooper swans who return to our area here in Seskin each winter from Iceland before making the long journey north again each spring to breed for the summer. They make one of the longest sea crossings of any swan species -flying up to 1400km across the Atlantic.
These beautiful birds are part of an internationally important migratory population shared between Ireland and Iceland.
They return back to the same site each year and are wonderful to hear.

As we mark World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) and the theme “Every Bird Counts” BirdWatch Irelandit’s important to consider how developments such as wind turbines along migratory routes or near feeding and roosting sites could affect whooper swans and other protected bird species.

Protecting migratory birds means protecting the places they rely on — both here in winter and abroad in summer.

There’s something really special about seeing a Barn Owl at dusk. They’re a rare and protected part of our local landscape. Because barn owls are red-listed in Ireland, their presence here highlights the ecological value of the area and the importance of carefully considering how any proposed wind farm development could affect their feeding and nesting habitats.”
