COMMUNITY SPIRIT TO THE FORE AT CLONEA BEACH LITTER PICK
Abbeyside Scouts and Dungarvan Tidy Towns Working Together to Protect Our Local Environment
The spirit of community and service was very much in evidence on Sunday, 29th March, as scouts, cubs, and leaders from the 4th Waterford Abbeyside Scouts along with volunteers from Dungarvan Tidy Towns gathered for a litter pick at Clonea Beach.
Meeting at the public car park, a strong turnout ensured that significant progress was made over the course of the morning, with participants working from 10am to 12 noon to help keep our beach clean and welcoming.
The initiative reflected scouting’s long-standing ethos of contributing positively to the community and caring for the environment. Cubs and scouts wore their blue and yellow neckerchiefs with pride as they carried out the clean-up.
The event also served to support the ongoing and highly commendable work of Dungarvan Tidy Towns, whose dedication continues to enhance the local environment for residents and visitors alike. Efforts such as this play an important role in maintaining the area’s natural beauty and fostering a shared sense of pride.
With plenty of rubbish collected and safely removed, the event was widely regarded as a success, once again demonstrating that when the community comes together, a real difference can be made.
At the conclusion of the event a certificate and merit badge was awarded to each participant. Abbeyside Scouts would like to thank Dungarvan Tidy Towns for the invite to help them look after our little piece of the world.
