This year’s theme, 'At the Heart of Democracy', could not be more relevant for Pride organisers.

Prides are not just celebrations; they are acts of visibility, resistance and community. Every day, Pride organisations stand at the heart of democracy, defending freedom of assembly, amplifying voices, building inclusion, and pushing back against discrimination and authoritarianism.

Democracy thrives when everyone can live openly, safely and equally.

🎬 EPOA at Lovers Film Festival: “Together We Can” in action

At the film festival, EPOA President Patrick Orth joined a panel with Chiara Tarantello (Torino Pride), Patrik Rásky (Budapest Pride), Vladimir Luxuria (Director of the film festival), and Romas Zabarauskas of the Lithuanian film “The Activist.”

The discussion focused on the EuroPride Turin 2027 motto: “Together We Can.". Our president shared that Budapest Pride a masterclass is in “Together We Can”: "It is a broad alliance extending beyond q***r communities, along with many international guests, that helped turn the banned Pride in Budapest into a success."

“Together We Can” truly shows how our movement moves forward in times of backlash!

ILGA-Europe has launched its 2026 Rainbow Map!

This year, Spain takes the top spot for LGBTI rights in Europe, ending Malta’s 10-year lead. The report highlights both important progress and growing threats to LGBTI rights across Europe.

While some countries move forward on equality and trans rights, others continue introducing harmful anti-LGBTI legislation and restrictions on fundamental freedoms.

The Rainbow Map remains an important tool to track where Europe is progressing, and where urgent action is needed.

Belarus Pride: LGBTQIA+ communities will not be silenced!

On 15 April 2026, Alexander Lukashenko signed a new law introducing punishment for so-called “LGBTQIA+ propaganda” in Belarus, another dangerous escalation targeting q***r communities and fundamental freedoms, but our communities will not be silenced.

In the coming days (14–18 May), we will dive into Belarus Pride and the realities facing LGBTQIA+ people and organisers in Belarus today.

📅 On Monday 18 May (18:30 CET), we will host a special webinar for EPOA members with representatives of the Belarusian q***r community. This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from LGBTQIA+ activists working under an increasingly hostile political environment.

The session will include a conversation around the documentary Between Home and Myself (2025), exploring organising, identity, visibility and resistance under repression.
