Wishing a happy birthday to Lorenzo Music, who is no longer with us, but left behind a tremendous body of work.

Music provided the voice for Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters.

Music was an accomplished writer, producer, composer, and a prolific voice actor. Not only did he portray Peter Venkman, he was also the voice of the titular character in the Garfield cartoons.

Music wrote for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and later helped create The Bob Newheart Show, co-composing the theme song along with his wife, Henrietta.

Wishing a happy birthday to Kumail Nanjiani, who turns 48 today.

Nanjiani was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and immigrated to the United States after attending college in Iowa, where he graduated from Grinnell University with a double major in Philosophy and Computer Science.

Nanjiani portrayed Nadeem Razmaadi in 2024’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, wherein he utilizes his hereditary abilities as a Fire Master to assist the Ghostbusters to defeat Garraka.

Nanjani and his wife Emily Gordon cowrote the 2017 film The Big Sick, for which they were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Wishing a happy birthday to Ray Parker Jr., who turns 72 today.

Parker wrote and recorded the Ghostbusters theme song, which spent three weeks at the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1984.

Parker was a prolific studio guitarist, playing on albums for Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Tina Turner, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, and The Temptations, among others. When Stevie Wonder toured in 1972 opening for The Rolling Stones, Parker was Wonder’s lead guitarist.

Parker not only wrote and recorded the theme song for Ghostbusters, he also performed sounds for the animated series The Real Ghostbusters.

Wishing a happy birthday to Rick Moranis, who turns 73 today.

Moranis played Louis Tully in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. A versatile performer, Moranis improvised his dialogue in the scene where he’s introducing Dana to the guests at his dinner party.

Moranis has not appeared in a film since 1997’s Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, due to stepping back from on-camera film work after his wife’s death in 1991. Moranis will appear in his first on-camera film role in next year’s Spaceballs sequel, reprising his role as Dark Helmet.

Happy birthday to this hilarious and beloved ghostbuster!
