Milo - a sweet and sensitive soul ❤️

At 9 years old, Milo is a beautiful girl who has found herself in our care through no fault of her own, after her previous owners were no longer able to look after her. It’s been a big adjustment, and when she first arrived, she was completely very overwhelmed by her surroundings.

Since then, Milo has been making really good progress. One of our staff members has taken her home to help her rebuild her confidence, and we’re already starting to see glimpses of the soft, sensitive cat she truly is.

She enjoys curling up nearby and quietly keeping you company, happy just to share your space while she continues to learn that she’s safe. Milo can still become a little overstimulated at times, so she’ll let you know when she needs space - but she’s improving every day.

Milo is looking for a calm, patient, adult-only home where she can settle at her own pace. She needs a family who will give her the time, understanding, and kindness she deserves, without expecting too much too soon.

With the right home, Milo has so much potential to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.

If you have a quiet home and the patience to help a shy girl find her confidence again, Milo could be incredibly rewarding. 🐾

Every animal welfare call tells a different story. While inspectors can never be certain what they will find, what remains constant, is their commitment to treating every animal with empathy, compassion, and care.

Recently, NSPCA Inspector Carroll responded to a welfare concern in Cork. As with all welfare calls, the circumstances were assessed with the animal’s best interests at heart.

The Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare are internationally recognised principles that guide our work and outline the basic standards every animal deserves:

👉🏼Freedom from Hunger and Thirst
👉🏼Freedom from Discomfort
👉🏼Freedom from Pain, Injury and Disease
👉🏼Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour
👉🏼Freedom from Fear and Distress

These freedoms remind us that animal welfare is about more than physical health, it is also about ensuring animals can live free from fear, suffering, and distress.

Sadly, this cat was found living in appalling conditions that compromised both its physical and emotional well-being. Following a welfare assessment, NSPCA Inspector Carroll removed the cat from the property and transported it for a full veterinary examination.

Animals rely on us to protect their welfare and to be their voice when they cannot speak for themselves. Cases like this highlight the vital role that concerned members of the public play in helping vulnerable animals.

Thank you to the person who reported this cat. Your actions made a difference.

Beethoven - a fun-loving whirlwind who’s full of energy and affection 🐶

At 12 years old, this Jack Russel Terrier gets excited about everything life has to offer. He loves long walks, he’s a world-class cuddle enthusiast, and space simply does not exist in his world - he will happily climb onto your lap any chance he gets.

Like many clever terriers, Beethoven is a talented escape artist, so he’ll need a secure home and someone who can stay one step ahead of his mischievous side.

He can be selective about other dogs, especially on walks, so introductions and an experienced owner would help him thrive.

Beethoven would suit an active home with adults who can match his energy and appreciate his quirky charm. Due to his excitable nature, a home with children (12+) would be best.

It you’re looking for an energetic, fun-loving boy with lots of character, Beethoven is ready to steal your heart.❤️

Interested in adopting this little cheeky chap? Come visit him at 📍NSPCA Longford. Open to the public 7 days a week from 12-4. No appointment needed. 🐾

Monty desperately needs your help 🥺

This sweet boy was rescued by NSPCA inspectors after being discovered living in heartbreaking conditions. He was painfully underweight, and had the saddest little eyes.

Over the past seven weeks, Monty has made incredible progress. He has gained weight, is growing in confidence every day, and despite everything he has been through, he remains one of the gentlest, sweetest dogs you could meet ❤️

Monty absolutely adores people. His favourite place is right by your side, soaking up affection. He is happiest when being fussed over and simply spending time with those he loves.

Sadly, kennel life is proving very difficult for him. Monty becomes extremely anxious in his kennel and has started biting his tail and spinning due to stress. Because of this he has to wear a cone. It is heartbreaking to see such a loving dog struggling in that environment 💔

We are desperate to find him a home quickly so that he can sit on a couch beside his human and enjoy being fussed over and snoozing.

Monty is in 📍NSPCA Wicklow and is only 2.5 years old. He could live with another dog pending a dog meet.

Please help us find Monty the loving home!

Today is

The NSPCA has joined more than 130 charities, experts and public figures from 33 countries in calling on the World Organisation for Animal Health (World Organisation for Animal Health) to strengthen global standards for the transport of animals.

Every year, millions of animals are transported long distances by road and sea. During these journeys many endure overcrowding, exhaustion, hunger, dehydration, injury, extreme temperatures and severe stress.

This suffering is unnecessary.

Animals deserve better.

That is why we are calling for stronger protections for animals during transport and, ultimately, an end to the live export trade.

Misty 💔

This sweet senior girl is still waiting for her last forever home😔

Her eyes are a little cloudy, and she may not hear a well as she used to, but her heart is still big and she still has so much love to give.

At 12 years young Misty walks a little slower but she still has a spring in her step and she loves to play.

Misty has gone through a very tough time when she and her pal, Tiny the German Shepherd, were surrendered to the shelter. For an older girl it was a huge change in her life but she’s being so brave and she’s melting all our hearts.

Misty enjoys gentle strolls around the garden, and she loves to play fetch. Afterwards, she is more than content to curl up in her bed or beside you on the couch, keeping you company.

She can become a little confused at times and takes great comfort in having someone nearby for reassurance. Because of this, she wouldn’t cope well being left alone for long periods and will need a patient, understanding owner who is familiar with the needs of a senior dog.

Misty is looking for a quiet home with teenagers or adults and no other pets, where she can settle into a gentle routine, enjoy life’s simple pleasures, and spend her golden years surrounded by love and comfort.

She is just adorable. She’s a little timid meeting new people but she’s slowly making friends.

We know there is someone out there just waiting for Misty and maybe that someone is you.

Interested in adopting Misty? Come visit her at NSPCA Dublin. We are open Tues-Sun, 12-4pm - no appointment needed.

Sissy & Biddy ❤️

Sissy and Biddy are two incredibly sweet young girls, both around a year old or younger, who are looking for a loving home together.

Both girls are missing an eye, but that certainly doesn’t slow them down or stop them from enjoying life. They are affectionate, charming cats who have adapted beautifully 💚

They share a lovely bond and take comfort in each other’s company, so we’d love to see them stay together. All they need is a home filled with love, soft beds, and plenty of fuss.

If you’re looking for a pair of special girls we’ve no doubt that Sissy and Biddy will be a perfect match 🐱🐱

If you would like to meet Sissy & Biddy you can visit 📍NSPCA Langford, 7 days a week from 12-4pm no appointment needed. You can also register your interest to adopt this gorgeous duo on our website 🔗 link in bio 🐱🐱
