Loneliness is becoming one of the biggest mental health challenges of our time.

Even in a world where we’re constantly connected, many people still feel isolated, unheard, or disconnected from meaningful relationships. Young adults and older adults are particularly affected, often experiencing low mood, emotional exhaustion, and difficulty maintaining connection with others.

You do not have to navigate it alone. PCI College provides low cost counselling and professional support in a safe, confidential space.

Grief changes everything, and it does not only come from loss of loved ones 🕊️

Sometimes grief is the end of a relationship. A career that did not work out. A dream that never happened. A version of yourself you no longer recognise. A life change you did not choose.

Grief can show up quietly in everyday life through anxiety, exhaustion, anger, numbness, loneliness, or feeling stuck. Many people carry these feelings without realising they are grieving.

At PCI Counselling Service, we provide affordable counselling and psychotherapy support in a safe, compassionate, and professional space. Our low-cost counselling service is designed to make therapy more accessible for people across Ireland.

You do not have to navigate grief or life changes alone.

Grief is not just about death. It can follow the end of a relationship, a change in health, the loss of a job, a home, or the life you thought you were going to have. During Grief Awareness, we are reminded that loss shows up in many forms, and that there is no “right” way to grieve, no timeline, and no need to rush the process.

Grief can feel isolating, especially in a culture that often expects people to “move on” quickly. But being able to talk about loss in a safe, supportive space can make a real difference. Counselling offers a place to sit with what you are carrying, without judgement and without pressure to fix what simply needs time, care, and understanding.

At PCI Counselling Service, we provide low-cost counselling to support people through grief, loss, and other life challenges. If you are struggling, you do not have to do it alone. Reaching out is not a sign of weakness, it is a step towards caring for yourself.

Slow down for a moment today. Not in a dramatic, life-overhaul kind of way, just enough to really be where you are. Move through the rest of your day with intention and presence. Notice how the light falls through the window. Take an extra second to enjoy your coffee. Listen when someone speaks instead of already thinking about what’s next.

So much of life slips by because we’re rushing toward the next thing, the next task, the next goal. But the truth is, so much joy lives in the small, ordinary moments we barely register. A quiet laugh. A deep breath. A song that hits just right. A feeling of calm you didn’t expect.

You don’t need more to feel more. You just need to notice what’s already here.

Go gently today. Stay present. And don’t miss the little joys that are trying to find you.

Everywhere you look, people are setting resolutions, chasing their best selves, announcing fresh starts. And somehow it can make you feel like you’re already behind. 🪜
After December, that feeling makes sense. Overconsumption sneaks up on you. Too much TV, too much food, too much spending, too much noise. When it all stops at once, you’re left with the aftermath. A tired body, a cluttered mind, and the pressure to immediately reset your life. Picking yourself back up can feel harder than anyone admits. ❤️‍🩹
What this really brings up is the question of how you’re supposed to do January. The truth is, there isn’t a right way. There’s no universal pace you’re meant to be moving at, no checklist that proves you’re doing it correctly. January doesn’t need to be productive, impressive, or transformative. 🧠
Sometimes it’s just about looking after yourself in small, quiet ways. Going for a walk without tracking it. Standing under a hot shower for a little longer than usual. Clearing one surface instead of the whole house. Letting rest be enough for now. 🛏️
You’re not late. You’re not failing. You’re coming out of a season that asked a lot from you. January doesn’t need a new version of you. It just needs you to be a little kinder to where you are. 💙

Your phone gets way less interesting when it’s not trying to entertain you.

Turning your screen to greyscale removes the colours that keep you scrolling.
No red notifications. No bright apps pulling your attention.
Just less stimulation and more choice.

It won’t make you quit your phone.
It will help you use it on purpose.

Try it for one day and notice the difference.

For IOS : go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Color Filters, turn on Color Filters, and select Grayscale.

For Android : use Bedtime Mode in Digital Wellbeing for scheduled black & white (Pixel phones), or enable Color Correction in Accessibility settings for a quick toggle, often found under Visibility Enhancements, or use Developer Options for a permanent change via Simulate Color Space > Monochromacy.

Have you ever set a New Year’s resolution that felt motivating on the 1st of January and exhausting already? New Year’s resolutions don’t have to mean setting yourself up to fail by February. What really works is setting SMART goals: specific, meaningful, and grounded in your real life, not who you think you should be. When goals are clear and realistic, they’re easier to stick with and far kinder on your mental health. This is about progress, not perfection, and choosing change that supports you rather than pressures you. If you’re curious about how to set resolutions you can actually sustain, take a few minutes to read more and reflect on what you want this year to feel like. What’s one small, achievable change that would genuinely improve your day-to-day life?
