Bank holiday weekends can bring a lot of pressure to feel good, be social, make plans, or “make the most of it.” But if you’re struggling with your mental health, feeling overwhelmed, lonely, anxious, or simply not yourself, weekends like these can feel harder than usual.

You don’t need to have a perfect weekend to get through it well. Rest counts. Quiet counts. Saying no counts. Taking things one hour at a time counts. If all you manage this weekend is getting outside for a few minutes, replying to one message, eating properly, or giving yourself a break instead of being hard on yourself — that’s enough.

Be gentle with yourself. Not every weekend has to look productive to be worthwhile.

It’s exam season again, and for many students this can be a stressful and overwhelming time 📚💙

Whether you’re sitting the Junior Cert, Leaving Cert, college exams, or assignments, remember that it’s okay to feel nervous. Try to take things one step at a time, make time for rest, eat and sleep well, and reach out for support if things feel too much.

Your worth is not defined by exam results. Exams are just one part of your journey — not the whole story

Clinical psychologist Niamh Delmar shares her tips for coping with exam stress.
