Notice from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council agreed at its Budget Meeting on 25 November 2025 to increase parking charges.

The new rates will apply from 1 January 2026 for both on-street parking and Council car parks. Charges in the Dún Laoghaire Harbour area will stay the same.

These changes, which average a 20% increase across the County, are needed to cover rising costs and to keep funding essential services like road maintenance, public lighting, and traffic improvements.

New tariff plates will be added to parking meters before the start date, but current rates remain in place until 1 January 2026

📢 Help Us Build a Greener, Safer Cabinteely! 🌳

The proposed Cabinteely Greenway is a well-researched plan that will bring huge benefits right to our doorstep—and we need your voice to make it happen!

The Cabinteely Greenway scheme proposes a 2.3km safe and largely off-road route that will weave through Cabinteely Park and its surrounding areas, creating essential links to the wider dlr Active Travel network.
💚 Why We Need Your Positive Response:

Safer Journeys: It provides a safe route for walking, cycling, and 'wheeling' for all ages, making the daily commute or trips to local schools easier and much safer.

Minimal Impact: The design is sensitive to the environment and, importantly, no changes will be made to current on-street parking or local traffic flow (two-way traffic is retained in key areas). The Park will still be closed overnight.

Better Connections: It connects our community between Cornelscourt and Cherrywood, and encourages healthier, more sustainable travel options.

Don't let this opportunity pass! Let's ensure the positive voices for this wonderful community asset are heard.

Please join the YES voices by taking just 2 minutes to make a positive submission today!
📅 Deadline: Thursday, December 11th

Thank you for helping us create a more vibrant and connected Cabinteely! Please share this with your neighbours and friends.

The Crucial Role of Community Submissions for the Cabinteely Greenway

Formal submissions from local residents, businesses, sports clubs, and community organisations are absolutely vital for the success of the proposed Cabinteely Greenway. This 2.3km scheme, connecting Cornelscourt to Cherrywood, is not just infrastructure; it's a transformative community asset. Collective support provides decision-makers with irrefutable proof of its necessity, demonstrating how it will:

Enhance Community Life & Safety (Residents/Schools): Create a safe, segregated route for school journeys and local trips, particularly to Cabinteely Park and the amenities along the route, reducing reliance on cars and promoting healthier lifestyles for people of all ages and abilities.
Boost Local Economy (Businesses): Generate increased footfall and cycle traffic through Cornelscourt Village and adjacent areas, directly supporting local shops, cafes, and services by making the area more accessible and desirable.
Improve Access to Sport & Leisure (Clubs/Groups): Offer new, safe active travel links to Cabinteely Park’s facilities and other local sports grounds, making it easier and safer for members to travel to training and events, thereby fostering greater participation.
These submissions are the community’s voice, showcasing the Cabinteely Greenway as a shared, sustainable vision that will connect neighbourhoods, support climate action, and deliver significant local well-being benefits for decades to come.
