Big congratulations to club member Marty Lawlor on becoming all Ireland champion for the second time. He won it 23 years ago. This is the second year in a row that the club has produced an all Ireland champion after Luke Kearns win last year. Marty had 6 fish for 40-9.
Well done pal and well done to everyone else that made the team.

IFPAC is once again proud to announce the return of our Boat Competition, taking place this coming February. Following the success of last year’s event, we’re thrilled to bring anglers together for another exciting day on the water.
This year’s competition promises to be even bigger and better, with improved organisation, a fantastic venue, and the same great atmosphere that made last year’s event such a highlight. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to boat competitions, it’s a perfect opportunity to test your skills, enjoy a competitive but friendly environment, and spend a great day out with fellow pike anglers from across the country.
Full details can be found on the poster below — including date, venue, entry information. We look forward to seeing everyone again for what is sure to be another memorable IFPAC event!
Meeting afterwards in Murtagh's Pub, Aughnacliffe.

Well what a finish we had to our winter league last Sunday. The bad weather recently made it hard to get on a decent venue but we managed to find a few lakes that were just about fishable and plenty of fish were caught.

RESULTS ON THE DAY
1st Marty Lawlor 4 fish for 24.13
2nd James O’Callaghan 3 fish for 21.13
3rd Donagh O’Connell 5 fish for 20.13
4th Rodney Gaynor 5 fish for 17.6

Heaviest fish went to James O’Callaghan weighing 9.10

Pools went to Marty and Donagh with a combined bag weight of 45.10

WINTER LEAGUE
It got extremely close at the top of the league this year between the top 3 Anto Byrne, Rodney Gaynor and Jan Rutkowski with Rodney and Anthony both finishing on 132 points over the 5 legs. Jan finished just one point behind on 131 points.
With Rodney and Anto finishing on the same points the winner would eventually be decided by whoever caught the most amount of fish over the 5 legs and this also came down to the wire, Anto just nipped it having 32 fish against Rodney’s 31 fish.

So results were as follows
1st Antony Byrne 132 points
2nd Rodney Gaynor 132 points
3rd Jan Polish 131 points
4th Fran Crosbie 119 points
5th Logan Lennon 113 points
5th Donagh O’Connell 113 points
7th Jay Cooke 111 points
8th Marty Lawlor 109 points
9th Damo O’Brien 95 points
10th James O’Callaghan 91 points

Heaviest fish of the league
1st Sean O’Brien 15.10
2nd Logan Lennon 14.14
3rd David O’Callaghan 10.10

ANGLER OF THE YEAR
After losing out by one fish for the winter league, Rodney’s day was saved by being awarded the angler of the year for the second year running with a total of 311 points for the year. Closest angler to him was (again) Jan finishing on 292 points. Great consistency from both anglers.

Well done to all the winners throughout the year and many thanks to all our members and committee members for showing up every month and putting the effort in.
And a very big shout out to southside angling for all their support throughout the year.

Looking forward to the new season, our first competition will be held in Feb and we’re taking on new members so reach out to us if you’d like to get involved.

Reminder to all pikers get your submissions in before the closing date this weekend.

Almost 5,000 pike were culled and removed from the Lough Corrib Catchment in 2022 by local anglers pushing for legislative change to protect native salmon and trout. Anglers who removed some 4,960 pike from the Corrib in the past twelve months risked fines for breaching two national bye-laws (806 an...

Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather, unfortunately it’s not the weather for pike fishing so we’ve cancelled our comp for July and August. Water temps are way too high with this heatwave and pike welfare must take priority, great to see other clubs taking the same narrative and leaving the pike alone for now.

Enjoy the weekend everyone and see you on the bank over the next few months🌞🌞🌞
