Merchants Quay Ireland is a national voluntary organization that helps people who are dealing with homelessness and those caught in addiction. We provide frontline services, practical support, pathways towards recovery, and innovative responses to the issues of drug use and homelessness in Ireland. We believe in a society where no one has to face homelessness or addiction alone and where everyone

has the support they need to reduce the harm caused by homelessness and addiction and to build a better life—an inclusive society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality, and effective services to people experiencing homelessness and addiction in Ireland, meeting their complex needs in a non-judgmental and compassionate way.

Today marks the start of , a time to look beyond the stigma surrounding addiction and celebrate the strength, resilience, and courage of people on their recovery journey.

Throughout September, we'll be sharing real stories from people rebuilding their lives, highlighting what recovery means, and showing how support, compassion, and connection can make all the difference.

At Merchants Quay Ireland, we believe nobody should face recovery alone. Get involved by supporting MQI, taking on the Road to Recovery Challenge, or sharing the message.

Sandra is now 15 months drug-free, studying for a qualification in health and fitness, and rebuilding her relationship with her two children💜

None of it would have been possible without a safe place to call home, and without you.

"Once I got well, everyone got well in my family," she says. That's the ripple effect of your kindness, one that reaches far beyond Sandra herself.

"I'm so proud of where I am today, I've done a whole 180."

Thank you for being part of Sandra's story, and for giving people like her the chance to really live again💜

A message from our CEO, Eddie Mullins.💜

Thank you so much for choosing to be part of the MQI family.

"Leaving treatment is a massive achievement, but without a roof over their heads, a person in early recovery is incredibly exposed."

One of the biggest challenges we face is supporting clients who complete residential rehab but have nowhere to go. That's why our Aftercare housing is so vital, providing transitional accommodation and the protective layer someone needs to stay safe, maintain their recovery, and build an independent future.

"For every Sandra who finds a home instead of returning to the streets, and for every family who feels that positive ripple effect, thank you. We truly couldn't do it without you."

When Sandra first came to us, her confidence was on the floor. Now, she's doing amazingly well and has a safe home to rebuild in💜

Declan, Sandra’s keyworker, has spent eight years supporting countless others like Sandra through Aftercare, the crucial next step after residential rehab.

"When reality hits after treatment, a tent on the street shouldn't be the only option. Together, we provide the safety of a home." Our Aftercare Services give people routine, shelter, and structure, as well as support to work through their traumas, to reconnect with family, and to build their life skills. They leave with a clear head, a plan for the future, and a newfound self-belief, which pours out into their families too.

"What addiction is, is people disconnecting – from family, from life, from work… Recovery is about reconnecting with everything, and it isn't easy, especially when people have spent a lifetime feeling critical of themselves."

Every time we hear a story of someone like Sandra who reintegrates into society, that's a massive win, made possible by people like you.
