Merchants Quay Ireland is a national voluntary organization that helps people who are dealing with homelessness and those caught in addiction. We provide frontline services, practical support, pathways towards recovery, and innovative responses to the issues of drug use and homelessness in Ireland. We believe in a society where no one has to face homelessness or addiction alone and where everyone

has the support they need to reduce the harm caused by homelessness and addiction and to build a better lifeβ€”an inclusive society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality, and effective services to people experiencing homelessness and addiction in Ireland, meeting their complex needs in a non-judgmental and compassionate way.

Thanks to you, the MQI Book of Love is back for its fifth year.πŸ’œ

Every year, we ask our donors to write words of wisdom and encouragement to our clients. Every message you've shared, full of kindness, courage, and love, has been a light in the darkness for someone in recovery. For our clients, many of whom have known only hardship and isolation, your words remind them they are not alone, that hope is possible, and that recovery is within reach.

Copies of the Book of Love are brought directly to St. Francis Farm, High Park, and our other services. On a difficult day, a client can sit down, open the book, and find your words waiting for them. A hand on their shoulder when they need it most.

This beautiful book wouldn't exist without you. We're so deeply grateful. Thank you

If you met Caroline today, you'd never guess the pain she's carried.πŸ’œ

She's a ray of light. The kind of person you'd meet and immediately think, "I'd love to be her friend."

But behind that warmth is a story of real courage. At St. Francis Farm, Caroline found her purpose in the most unexpected place, an overgrown flower bed. "In the detox, I dismantled a flower bed. In the rehab, I turned it over, built it back up, and planted seeds. By the time I was leaving, it had begun to grow. It was like seeing my own journey."

Before she left, her case worker told her she had never seen such a positive change in someone. Now, Caroline is moving into her new home, hopeful and ready.

Your kindness helped make this possible. Thank you.πŸ’œ

🎀 Voices from St. Francis Farm

St. Francis Farm is a residential detox and rehabilitation service, where people can heal and begin to rebuild their lives is a place, and nobody can speak about this better than the men and women currently living at the farm.

Your kindness gives people the space and time they need to find themselves again. Thank you for believing in the power of a second chance.🧑

πŸ‘‹ Meet Matthew, farm manager at St. Francis Farm...

Matthew works with the men and women in St. Francis Farm every day - many of whom had never set foot on farmland before coming to Merchants Quay. As Matthew puts it, he sees himself as a 'teammate' in each client's recovery journey.

Read a snippet from our interview with Matthew below:

Q. What does a typical day look like for you and the clients?

A: Everyone works with me here on the farm. Together, we sow seeds, tend to the plants and harvest produce which we then cook in the kitchen. A lot of our clients have never been on a farm before, and they are often coming from difficult situations. Here, they have the chance to get away from it all.
