We have six lovely Syrian hamsters looking for homes of their own: Nana, Peter, Wendy, Stuart, Rosa and Ham-Solo.

Syrians have slightly different care requirements to dwarf hamsters. They need our largest enclosures, with a minimum internal floor space of 5,000 sq cm. They also need large wheels of at least 28cm in diameter. Hides and tunnels should have entrances at least 7cm wide, and they need plenty of deep bedding for digging and burrowing. We recommend at least 30cm of compressed substrate, although more is always better!

These six little ones are full of character and we'd love to see them move on to caring forever homes where they can thrive and be spoiled as they deserve. 🥰🥰🥰

Our past month has been super intense, with several urgent care vet trips, emergency surrenders, a tank enclosure needed for our resident escapee, and several wonderful new foster applicants to prepare for.

This has had a huge impact on the charity's finances, so we need your support this month to offset a hard May.

Our maintenance costs are accounted for as ever through the support of our charity members. You can join our Patreon to help give us that predictable income for just €3 a month: https://www.patreon.com/c/HamsterInfoIreland

We have almost entirely depleted our emergency funds, however, which means we cannot take in new intakes until further donations come in. We are very cautious to never overcommit: we owe it to hamsters in need to ensure we can cover their needs in any eventuality once they are surrendered.

So to help us say YES to more hamsters, please SHARE, COMMENT, and DONATE if able: https://hamsterinfoireland.ie/donate/ 🥰

We're thrilled to announce that two of our rescue hamsters found new homes this weekend! Both were dwarf hamsters, and thanks to applications already in progress when they arrived into our care, we were able to match them with adopters very quickly. It would be fantastic if every hamster that came into rescue could be rehomed so smoothly! 🥰

Nacho was the first to head home. This 1-year-old Russian dwarf hamster came into rescue when his previous family felt they could no longer give him the attention and care he deserved. We're happy to hear that he has already settled into his new home and is enjoying life with his new family.

May the Roborovski was next to be adopted. May came into rescue after being housed with another hamster, which had led to fighting between them. (A reminder that hamsters are solitary animals and should never be kept together). Poor May had been put in a very stressful and dangerous situation, so we were very glad we could get her to safety. May's adopter has spent the last few weeks preparing a home for a new hamster, after her previous hamster sadly passed away. We know how hard it can be to start again after losing a pet, but we're so happy that May now has a loving home to call her own.

Thank you to both adopters for choosing to adopt a rescue hamster. We wish Nacho, May and their new families the very best of luck. 💖

💖🐹🏡 WE’RE LOOKING FOR FOSTER HOMES 🏡🐹💖

We’re looking for more caring foster homes to help rescue hamsters! We provide everything you need, including the enclosure, supplies, food, vet care, transport costs, and foster training.
All you need is a safe, loving home, a vet you can travel to, good communication with our team, and lots of cute photos and videos. We ask for a commitment of around 6 months if possible, but breaks are always okay.
Fostering makes a huge difference for hamsters needing a fresh start 💖

Our next foster training session is scheduled for 27th June. If you’d like to join, please fill out an application here: https://hamsterinfoireland.ie/foster-application-pack/

Our team have found the last 24 hours very difficult and we want to shed some light on the effect rescue has on us as well as the hamsters that have suffered at the hands of negligent people.

We were straight back to action after the AGM today to rescue this little one.
We’ve named her May, and as we have an adopter waiting for a dwarf hamster, she won’t be staying with us very long at all.
Other than a slightly torn ear, she seems in very good health!

We’ve been so busy with the litter, we haven’t had a chance to introduce this gorgeous boy who came to us on May the 4th - meet Ham Solo!
He’s a very curious boy and has enjoyed exploring all the new things his foster enclosure provides him but he would absolutely love a home to call his own!
