Back over the Easter break, one of our Scouts took on the PEAK Challenge in Gartan, Co. Donegal.

PEAK is a week of adventure, leadership, hiking, and teamwork, finishing with an incredible 30km wild-country hike. We’re proud to have had three Scouts take part over the years and hope to see many more in the future!

Swipe through for a few photos from their adventures over the last few years . β›°οΈπŸ’š

Our Groups 2026 Belters πŸ₯Ύ

After walking all the way from Vienna to Prague, covering 200km walked (plus more with public transport) we have two Rover Scouts now having received their Explorer BeltπŸ’ͺ

What can we say other than we are filled with immense pride. Remembering them throughout as young Scouts in the hall, and now here you are as adults completing one of the toughest and most rewarding adventures Scouting Ireland has to offer.

As Scouters, we always hope that Scouting helps young people grow into confident, capable adults, but seeing it happen in front of your eyes is something completely different. You have both represented yourselves, your families, your Scout Group and Scouting Ireland with such maturity, resilience and determination throughout this expedition.

Explorer Belt isn’t just about the kilometres, the maps or the finish line. It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone, trusting each other, overcoming challenges and discovering what you’re capable of. You both embraced every part of that journey, and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves.

We know our Adult Scouters and members are certainly very proud of you both.

Congratulations, Niamh and Darcy. Enjoy every moment of this achievement, because you’ve earned it.

Wishing the best of luck to two of our amazing young Rovers taking on the challenge of Explorer Belt 2026.

Dropped into a location in Europe, not known to them still, to walk roughly 200km and complete projects and more along their journey.

Just participating at a level like this is incredible, and we’ve every faith in them and their skills that they’ll do their very best and hopefully bring some more Explorer Belts back to this great groupπŸ’š

We’ll try keep everyone here posted on their journey as we hear more!

Good luck to all our members doing the Junior cert and Leaving cert tomorrow and over the coming weeks.

Try and get a good night's sleep before the exam and eat well. Bring in a drink of water for each exam. Do your best and once finished don't dwell on it but concentrate on the next one.
The few weeks will fly by.

Most important of all, these exams don't test you, they test your ability to do those exams, you yourself are not defined by these next couple of weeks. So no matter how well you do, just remember that you are great and all of us in Merchants Quay Scout Group are proud of you πŸ˜€

All the leaders want to say fair play to the Scouts for all their effort at the County Shield this weekend.

They'd to build their site and fend for themselves from Friday to Sunday, then work together to get through a pile of challenges all day Saturday.

Also delighted to see our older gang pitching in as staff.

We're always impressed to see them having the craic and working together and it was great to see them out there this weekend.
